| Need a motor |

| Haterot:
My search-fu is weak it would seem. I am re-configuring my rotating monitor and am in need of a new motor.Something that will be able to have a Sprocket mounted to it to drive a #25 chain. it has to be between 5-12v and spin in both directions (the ability to brake or pulse would be good too). I have checked several sites and come up empty. Can any of our electrical engineers recommend something for me? :notworthy: |

Ken/rebelscum/ any other tech heads around? |

What's your current setup? |

Windshield wiper motors are plentiful, relatively cheap, run off of 12v, some models have reasonably high torque (don't know how much though), and some models are continuous rotation. I don't know what its stall current is though. Drill motors operate on a range of voltages and battery powered motors can usually run on 12v. Most people tend to toss their battery powered drills when the batteries are no longer available and the originals have gone bad. You'll need the gearbox to get the appropriate torque though. On a slightly more expensive note, motors used for wheel chairs are an option. I've seen their voltages vary all over the place but I have seen them for 12v (and 24v) systems. Their torque is good and they're rock solid durable. |

Do you really need rotating? I think its easier and cheaper to invest in a good screen that has 19 inch vertical space and 27 inch horizontal (like may cabs were) than to turn your cab into a mess, and your efforts into frustration (hardware and software-wise!) with a rotating mech. |
