Arcade Spinner or Tornado?
Searcher7:
I have an original arcade spinner from Midway, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any pages detailing the connection of one of these spinners to a controller.
I'm assuming a PCB from a mouse would be needed.
I do have a Tornado spinner that's been gathering dust, but received no instructions with it.
I originally dismissed using it because I figured it would require another controller, but I just read that it has support for three mouse buttons, so I was also wondering if it were possible to just use this spinner to make a control panel to play spinner games like Tempest and Arkanoid, and non-spinner games like Carnival and Astro Invader.
If this is not plausible, I'll have to figure out a way to use the Midway spinner pictured.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

The tornado spinner has a usb/ps2 interface so you don't need a mouse hack for your other arcade spinner.

The Tornado I have has a PS2 cable attached.
I'm still looking for some sort of manual showing how to wire it up.
And I don't know if I have to change a jumper to switch between the games I mentioned.
Thanks.

It is supposed to use the same interface a the trackball for usb/ps2. I can find no info on a jumper to change any of the settings. The only info is on the buttons.
Button Wire Color Code
Left Button - Brown & Black wire
Middle Button - Orange & Black wire
Right Button - White & Black wire

I'm not sure what that is you posted, but at the site it says, "Includes SlikStik’s custom designed optic PCD that utilizes a dual optical pickup interface, support for 3 mouse buttons and switchable (axis) operation via an onboard jumper"
So the question still is, can I build a control panel using this spinner to allow one to play the games Astro Invaders and Carnival, as well as Tempest and Arkanoid without having to switch a jumper or use more than one port connection.
