  • I want to Build My Own Arcade Controls!!
Space Ace Skill Level Buttons
« on: June 25, 2002, 12:58:47 pm »
Does anyone feel that the happcontrols small round illuminated pusbuttons (at the link bellow) are a good alternative for the Space Ace Skill Level buttons. The original style buttons, or at least some in good condition, seem impossible to find.

http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/5400042xe.htm

The original buttons used were Atari cone shaped buttons with a small cherry coloured led switch. I have been able to pick some used buttons but I was looking to be able to buy brand new (and more reliable) ones to use on my "Daphne" Space Ace cab. I know I may have to compomise on authenticity with these.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks,
nick.

The Happ ones are not quite the same.

Free resource for building your own rotating control panels!

Ebay, Ebay, Ebay!  Every few weeks an old atari control panel goes on auction on ebay.  Just last week a trivial pursuit panel went for about 15 bucks.  For those of you whoe don't know trivial pursuit had 4 of these buttons as well as two large illuminated pushbutons, the same ones that happ charges 3-7$ a piece for.  There's probably a few panels out there that have these on them up for bid right now.  I think I saw a complete pacman cocktail control panel.  You would get two with it as well as an original pacman 4-way joystick.

Ebay is your friend and used parts are a good thing.  ;)
