It was said that the best selling PS2 game for the first couple years was 'The Matrix on DVD'. In it's first day of release, the PS2 double the ammount of Japanese homes that were DVD capable. The PS2 helped bring on the DVD revolution in 2000. There were certianly other factors, but the fact that the thing was a $299 DVD player when DVD Players cost a lot more was a massive boost. Sony also had previous exclusive deals from the PS1 era which moved up with the PS2 as well. Not to mention that the PS2 did have better graphics capability overall and it's DVD capability meant that the PS2 could operate HUGE games off of a single disc where as the DC was limited to 1GB. Not to be a jerk, but the PS2 has a better controller by far. :) But my DC still gets use and it's top teir titles look wonderful on VGA output. We can't even get VGA output of a PS2 since it doesn't really do RGBHV. :/ Too bad the PS2 never got a Datyona USA port. That woulda been sweet. |
