Labraid's Mame Cabinet
(1/1)
labraid:
I based my design on the Konami cabinet with a twist.
Started with a cardboard template of the console.
Cut out the side from 3/4" MDF.
Joined both edges with a shelf on the bottom for the pc and top of marquee.
I got a 22" LCD for this system. I measured the exact size of the screen that can be viewed and cut out the size. I also added some wood trim to add depth.
The control panel slips over the two sides and is easily taken off with two screws.
I built a box on the bottom to finish it.
I sprayed car paint on it and it seems to have done the job is doesn't scratch easily and will not chip.
I put a Pentium 4 2.80, 1GB Ram, 250GB HDD. 2.1 Speakers. XP Tiny. HyperSpin FE.

Very nice :cheers: A couple questions;
How expensive was the paint? Been thinking of trying that myself.
Does HyperSpin work ok with those system specs? Any lag or anything? I've heard that H.S. can be kind of a resource hog.

much larger pics please, looks nice
labraid:
I had a normal XP and it was kinda laggy but after putting in the tiny xp it starts fine. Maybe a few themes are laggy but nothing too bad. The paint is about €45 per liter in Ireland may differ from country and one liter is more than enough using a spray gun and compressor.
Oyea. Changed the images for larger ones.
