Firebat138:
I need to buy a new hard drive and I want to get a TB or 2...  Should I be fine in just purchasing a 1TB Mybook and running everything on that?  Does anyone do this and is there a performance degradation...  Thanx

If you are going to put it on an external hard drive, then i would go with e-sata.  the usb 2.0 interface is just nowhere near as fast, and could cause performance degradation.  or, you could always just go with an internal hard drive.

you can pick up a 1tb drive for under $100 now, internal or external.

The Mybook has Firewire...would that be better..

And E-Sata   My Precision 340....what sata card could I use...can you provide me a link and a link to a hard drive... i always get that stuff confused...  Thanx

does your PC have e-sata?  does it even have sata II?  what about pci express slots?  i cannot really provide any information without knowing anything about your PC.

Why not just go internal? You can buy a SATA 1tb hard drive for $80 from Newegg.

I second the eSATA but I think that Firewire will do in a pinch. If you don't have either eSATA or Firewire ports, pick up an enclosure with eSATA and a controller card. If you already have FW, get a FW hard drive enclosure.
