I wonder how many times a few years back Will Smith got cast specifically so he would do the theme song.  It was a big part of both Men in Black and Hitch, too.

EDIT:  which oddly enough wasn't on the soundtrack, apparently... but I remember clearly the cross advertising at the time...

Meh. I ain't buying it. Will's a funny guy, and MIB was riding on his success with Fresh Prince.

Oh I'm not saying he didn't do a great job and wasn't a good casting decision... but there are probably 10 other guys who could have pulled off those roles too that couldn't do the theme song.  I'm just wondering if it was a factor.

MiB didn't have to ride on the TV show.  It was the year after Independence Day (now THAT is a movie I have watched 50 times and still enjoy it).
