Need I remind you of the seemingly endless flyby the Enterprise did on V-ger in the 1st movie. Damn, that was agonizingly bad and boring.

Yeah that was pretty painful.

After reading review after review in papers and online, I'll have to up my guess, but I still question whether just the connotation of hearing the words "Star Trek" will keep some younger people, and even 20/30 somethings away.  I'll say...60 million.

I dunno.  I work with kids and it seems like they don't have the same ideas about that stuff that some others (we?) did when we were their age.  I think it'll attract a variety of people.

Gota say, It was a  decent movie.

The actors were really good.  Looked the part, and really made the characters
believable.  In fact, the characters portrayed seemed much more believable
than the original series cast.

I was waiting the Classic lines... and when they came on,
it was a little cool.. but also a little cheezy too.

A few things I didnt like:

1) At times, it felt like there was TOO Much on the screen.  The special effects
were WAY Overdone.  Too many collisions, explosions, particles, etc.  The enemy
ship was like a porcupine mass, which wasnt very nice either.

2) It felt a bit too rushed... and more like an introduction than an adventure. (which is
a bit to be expected.  This wasnt quite the case with Batman begins however)
Hopefully a sequel will improve things...

3) The Theater playing the film had the Volume up so high, it was painful to the
ear.  I had to stuff bits of napkin into my ears to make it bearable.  Im getting
Very tired of this crap.  Ive warned them about this last time I went...   Maybe
its time to start a Lawsuit up.   I could only imagine if someone brought a child
to the show.

(And trust me, I like my music very loud.  But, its very different when its
heavy Mid-Range... and high frequency screeching and screaming noises.  Such
things are exactly what causes permanent hearing damages)

I felt the actors tried very hard to mimic the style and mannerisms of the original actors.

I felt the Scottish accent of that English guy was pathetic though. Didn't really sound Scottish to me at all. More like Gloucester ...

I go to movies reasonably often and I don't usually have trouble with the volume, but in this case I felt the volume was way to loud too. Indeed especially the mid tones were annoyingly loud to the extent that indeed it was painful.
