My Xbox wireless coffee table controller
(1/3) > >>
rusolinio:
Hi Peeps,

This crappy old, cup stained coffee table has been in my family for years. its been used for so many things in the past, the mind boggles. Couple that with a touch of nostalgia, and years of memories, i almost shed a tear when i drilled the first hole in it.........

Parts used were chromalux buttons from Ultimarc, some left over happ competition buttons i had left over from an old arcade machine, and a Mag-stik plus, also from Ultimarc.

I also used sanwa microswitches, but are too 'clicky' for me. I plan on changing the full lot for cherry micros for my preffered feel. Also gotta tidy up the wiring.....

There is also green leds in the buttons, but they are 5v, so another power source will have to be used to make them work. (probably do it at the weekend)

Now, anyone for a severe thrashing on SF4????

ChadTower:

Nice job, but put a bottom panel in there... someone will eventually catch one of those wires on a finger or a beer or something.

Love it! I'm a sucker for repurposing stuff.

But, seriously, would it a killed ya to give it a rub down with some 240 grit and slap some stain on there?  ;)
rusolinio:
lol, it is a bit grubby yeah. But thats the point. I can still use it without fear of further damage, as i have done for nigh on 20 years!!!
I do plan on making it a little nicer, but by way of chasing leds in the buttons.

I plan on making a two player coffee table for my next mod, and it will be a whole lot nicer.....

Anyone else done a wireless controller table of any kind? i'd love to see some to inspire my next build......

severdhed:
that's a cool idea.  i've often thought about doing a 2 player coffee table controller, with a reversible top, so i could function as a normal coffee table, then you flip it and there are your arcade controls.
