Still haven't played JP. CP Pinball is prejudiced against DE, so the drought will continue. Looking forward to busting my cherry on several machines tonight. Still debating whether it's going to be a Miller Lite or Redbull/Monster & Vodka night. I remembered to bring my cooler but forgot my change of clothes. So I'll look at least as dorky as the average dork there. Did I mention I work at Captain Hook's Fish & Chips and have to wear a pirate costume like Judge Reinhold in Fast Times at Ridgemont High? :burgerking:

Nothing went as planned: I was 2 hours late, left an hour early, drank 4 redbulls, 1 tall Monster & lost my arse to LL on TSPP & my pinball buddy with the pork chops whooped me on Banzai Run.

I may have to retire...........................nah.

I had a good time.  Unfortunately I drank too much and my gameplay fell off considerably - and there wasnt much there to start with.  However, I did manage to beat PW in one game of TFG - although I'm sure he'll claim I cheated (which we all know to be impossible in pinball...hehe).

Met a few local pinheads so that was cool.  Have to get more time on WOF and TSPP.  Those machines are pretty sweet.  Noted a couple lesser themed games I would consider for future purchases........JM and WCS94 (aweful colors on that game - yuk!).  Absolutely love STTNG!  Dont see what all the fuss is over TZ, TAF and MB.  They were OK I guess but nothing out of this world justifying the outrageous price level.  I suppose its more theme on them?

I wanted to make sure I played canidates for my next machine before I got too tipsy. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to knocking out the top 10 rated games...well let's just say I need to play them again before I pass final judgement. Like Flake, I was unimpressed with TZ and TAF. I was pretty blown away by TOM and TSPP. I tought WCS94 was one of the funnest games there...even though I hate the theme. T2 is off my list of games I was interested in. Great sounds and theme...terrible play.

Fun night. Next time I am limiting myself to a six pack.

Next time I am going to get myself a driver so I can get all Frank the Tanked up on Blue Moons!!!!!!!!

What about the Napoleon Dynamite guy, did you all see him? He had a permanent smile on his face with CRAZY eyes & two of his friends were acting very strange.........me tinks, well almost certain, that they ate something a little special that night.

TSPP & WOF = Best Stern games ever, the only two I'd own (er scratch that...the only two I'd possibly kill to own).

Viva la Pinball bitches!

EDIT: Now I remember, you did cheat becuase you put it on 3 player & chose the best score against mine.......you killed kenny!

is that implying that I'm a hipster or a sheep? BTW, I went with the Miller. But I did receive a contact-high from the Redbull fumes in the air.

That is a good stab PBJ, redbull & vodka is a "trendy drink" indeed but............

Redbull & vodka is real, I can vouch for that. Now its not as real as whiskey & Richard Pryor powder but its still pretty damn real.

You see regular beer is difficult to blackout on, vodka & whatever you mix it with makes for an easy blackout BUT.......Redbull & vodka always results in me waking up in the basement without a shirt on, food all over the bar & me wondering wtf I did during those 2 hours which my consciousness cannot account for but my GF can (& wont let go of).

PBJ you need to go to the East side out here, drink a 5th of stoli & 6 redbulls & black out with a stripper named "Ginger".

Then play TSPP

Its good for you, fo show.

My encore Saturday was 2.5 bottles of wine @ Hidden Lake Winery in Trenton, IL followed by a Redballs and vodka and an estimated 8 beers.

I tried to make breakfast for mothersday with that blinding headache and mouth watering (which signals puke is imminent). Wife wife ripped me later in the day...after I went back to bed for about 4 hours...that it was ---smurfy--- and half cooked.

On a different note: Earthshaker was particularly harsh to me last night. I almost had to take the ball-peen to it.

I had a Zima with a jolly rancher dissolved in it.

I've always wanted to try the candy in the Zima trick again and see if it actually tastes as close as I remember it.....

Not hard to remember to eat aspirin and B-12 after a 4 pack of Zima! :laugh2:

Yeah Town & Country yuppies are funny: They lease a 3 series, put sushi on their credit card & then ---smurfette--- about closing costs on their cash out refi.

Know what though...........................

You drink Zima with candy in it.

I bet once you  broke the "seal" you were sitting on the toilet peeing every 15 minutes  >:D

LOL, I couldn't resist PBJ

I'm going over to uncle Bubbles' (Flake) tomorrow to obliderate his Time Pilot high score. While I'm there, I'm thinking about knocking off his treasured DemoMan high score. He is comfortable in talking ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- that there is no way I can beat it, but I know which plug to disconnect to give me unlimited balls.

You will need unlimited balls to beat my score.  Otherwise its going to be a futile attempt.  Stick wtih time pilot.

When I was a young lad I once got stuck behind the bed playing hide and go seek in the house.  That event earned me the nickname bubba which has since morphed into bubbles by my brother - who has a habit of "tweaking" everyone's name/title to suit his own taste.  He has a name like that for everyone in our family.

Unfortunately Bubbles turned off his DM due to "an overheating flipper" before I could knock him down a notch. I did go ahead and best my previously unattainable high on Robotron  by better than a hundred grand. I also bested his high on Time Pilot...promise kept...but it is still very beatable.

DM giving you some troubles there uncle bubbles?

My JP just rolled over & DIED on me Saturday night so it must be contagious.

It lights up but the DMD, sound & etc is non responsive. I swapped out DMD's but still nothing. Later I saw the red LED's were not illuminated on the CPU board (dunno its real name) so there is an issue with either the board or the power going to it. After I get the TFTC put back together this weekend I will swap CPU boards & hope it works :-(

I hate pinball

EDIT: Are you guys gonna go to CP this month? I can only go on Saturdays now due to my crazy hours of working 8am-8pm. I may bring my brother this time so I can get drunk & play better.....er worse.

Well my DM has two issues now apparently:

1.  Cryoclaw issues as previously noted

2.  Overheating coils on the left flipper.  According to the williams pinball repair guide there could be two issues:

"On WPC fliptronics and later games, if there is a marginal flipper switch reading, this causes the high powered side of the flipper to rapidly oscillate between on and off. The holding side of the flipper coil never engages. This problem will cause the flipper coil to get very hot in a short time. First try cleaning the flipper board optics. If this doesn't work, the LM339's on the Fliptronics board at U4 and/or U6 (or CPU board on WPC-95 at U25 and/or U26) will need to be replaced.

Bad regulation of the 12 volt power to the optos can cause the flipper coils to get hot too. Though rare, the 7812 voltage regulator on the power driver board could be failing, or the electrolytic filter capacitor for the 12 volts."

Anyone ever had an issue similar to this?

PW - I wont be making it to CP this month.  Maybe next month.

One last thing - there is a DE Simpsons for sale on CL right now.  Seems as though its been in storage for awhile and is unshopped.  Was posted on 5/30 for $850.

It may be my imagination, but I was thinking last night that my ES was acting goofy...more than usual. PW, I did bend that contact a little on the switch that I posted about. It worked for a bit and is now acting up again. But the more disturbing thing is that now my flipper seems to be losing strength. The guy I bought it from rebuilt 2 of the 3 and this is one of the rebuilt ones. I may have just been having a bad night, but I could not hit the center ramp for shitz, and that is the easiest shot on the game.

I'm doubtful this month for CP. My kids are going to Gramma's house in July, maybe the weekend will line up right and I'll bring the wife with me.

A lot of people love this game I think.  It has a good general reputation.  And I just sold the exercise equipment a month or so ago for........wait for it.......$1,000.  But alas, have no time this weekend either.

The only  "drawback" for me is that the only pin I own is Earthshaker - a Pat Lawlor designed system 11, same as Whirlwind. They are only a year apart too. Since I only have room for one more pin at this time, I'd like to have a little diversity. I could offer a trade, but I enjoy ES and haven't quite mastered it. Plus, I have a few mechanical issues that, when addressed, will make the game that much more enjoyable. In a year, I may be willing to pull the trigger on such a trade. But there is plenty of mileage still on ES for me.

I still suck at Demo Man.  That game is very challenging for me.  It will be awhile before I tire of it.  Seems like a pretty fair price for the Whirlwind if it truly is in that good of condition.  Probably wont be around after the weekend.

Did anyone else have more toys break?

My damn arcade has monitor issues, F!

So thats a pool table, 2 pins & an arcade in shambles.

I dont even think I have a gameroom right now.

Luckily TFTC should be done this weekend, JP's board will just get sent for repairs so thats easy & Costco has cheap LCD's (hello pinmame).

But still, damn.

I am scared if I get that storm trooper he may go on strike LOL

Sorry to hear that PW.  I hate the feeling of having lots of toys but hardly any working.

Your getting a full sized storm trooper figure?  Damn.....

Yeah I am considering adding a storm trooper statue & a Cruisn sit down racer but then again I don't want to over crowd the room.

Not just for reasons of aesthetics but also for entertaining practicality.

Its important that 2 people can play darts as 2 play the future pool table as 2 play Foosball while 4 people play pinball as 2 people MAME it up while 4 people play NBA or NHL on 360 while 4 more are at the bar doing shots & 2 more watching in disbelief & 1 more going pee..................all while not disturbing the other persons space.

Word.

As usual, nothing specatacular on craigslist as far as pins right now, but some damned interesting arcades. Dave from Madison has a Tron listed for a grand. That is really high for him so I am thinking it is a peach. Also saw a Satan's Hollow and a DK3. Makes me wish I was in the market for a classic machine. That Tron would look nice in the dungeon.

So, open house at work last week. Since there are no other Miller Lite drinkers at work, I got all the leftovers. My outside fridge looks like something out of a Dr. Dre video. I did manage to put a little dent in the bar fridge saturday night. I got by with a little help form my friends.

Oh you missed the pin action on Sunday then (yesterday).  At 11:30 am someone posted a circus voltaire pin in "good condition" for $800.  I noticed the ad at about 1:15 or so and told him I'd take it.  He replied about 2 hours later saying he has already had 10 offers to purchase it this morning and that I should make an offer that day.  He would then consider all offers and award to the highest bidder.

At that point, I was clearly out of the running but I made a ridiculous offer anyway.  Never heard back from him.  I wonder how much it went for.

What a fuckstick. It's craigslist, not f'ing Ebay. Or was it like the guy with the Riverboat Gambler that didn't know what he had? Yeah, I missed that...and I'm glad.

The guy clearly didnt know what he had otherwise he wouldnt have offered it up for less than $3-$4k.  From what I've seen that pin is worth way more than $800 even if it was in terrible shape.

The guy didnt have a phone number listed and I knew when I sent him the e-mail by the time he would see my e-mail offer there would most likely be 5 other inquiries about it.

Oh well......

I've never seen it in person but HOLY ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- does it look cool in pictures.  I also like that the DMD is placed in the playfield area so you can actually see whats going on there.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the ad but the CL hawks were quicker than me and the real pin guru's around here I'm sure offered much more than I.  As much as I would like to own that game I cant justify spending $3K on a pinball machine.

Maybe Chuck bought it and we will get a chance to play it this summer. Wishful thinking. Why don't you watch my kids on one of the CP weekends Bubbles so I can take my bride up there and get my pinball on?

I saw that CV listing on Craigslist.  I figured that person would try to pull some crap like this.  I thought about offering him a little lower that the average going price to see what happens, but I figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle.

Damn, a whole gang of them in my town. I'm seeing Shadow for $1600, is that the same one? I'd consider that Cyclone if he'd come down 3 or 4 hundo. Oh well, it's good to see the drought is over.

**EDIT**  Nevermind, I saw it...duhhh...guess since it wasn't in all capitals like the posts around it, I overlooked it.
