Flake:

You pay a "buyers premium" of like 12% or something and also sales tax which is approx. 7%.  I think when I'm in the bidding process I just think of adding 20% to whatever my final bid price is.

Based on what I've seen from other racers at these auctions I would guess they needed some work, most do from what I've seen.

I did take a look at Hydro Thunder and it was pretty close to needing a cap kit. I played that Ocean Hunter and it rebooted itself about 5 minutes into the game. That Indy Heat was interesting. It looked (and played) like Ivan Stewart Off Road. First time I've seen that. Terminator 2 was pretty jacked up. It needed a cap kit and was stuck in some kind of test mode...although that may be easy to fix for someone who knows what the hell they are doing.

I am intimidated at the thought of buying a cockpit at SA. Number 1 is trying to load the damned thing. Then, there is just so much more surface area on the cabinet to be f'ed up. I still contend I'd like to mame one and try to salvage the driving controls and use it exclusively for driving games. But if a Hydro Thunder fell in my lap, that would have to stay original since mame is not up to the challenge.

Well, I'm tenatively scheduled to go see ToM sunday (2 hour drive each way)...unless I chicken out. But the wife is gung ho, so I don't have that barrier.

One of you guys should buy a sit down racer, when you tire of it I will buy it & we can just float it around from STL-BYOAC member to member.

PBW, how goes the repairs? So you're down to what, one pin and that's it?

The only reason I am looking forward to winter is to have time to work on ES and do some tweaking to the MAME. Summer is tough and the fall is worse.

Once I pull the trigger on ToM, I will be pretty broke. So no new purchases in the forseable future for LL...maybe some bar stools if I manage to get a bonus this year.

pinballwizard79:

Yeah, ---fudgesicle--- my life.

Well actually TFTC will be finished soon & then I can fix JP, plus the monitor on my arcade is doing fine now (for now) so I think I will regain my powers soon.

But once I get everything working I will take it apart to restore, rebuild, clean & etc...except TFTC of course.

I will be a very busy man the rest of the year thats for sure.

Then its time for next years projects  >:D those are insane & semi-secret for now

LLUncoolJ:

Bullitin  Tonight (friday) on channel 4 news at 10, they are supposed to have a story about some local pinball wizard that has 60 pins in his home. I will be TIVOing. http://www.kmov.com/

PBW:  Ahh, the secret project...now some nerd will be trying to go mission impossible on you to steal said plans.

I am thinking about trying to get my hands on a decent classic cabinet and putting in a 48/60 in one board with just a 4 way stick and 1 button. Can you disable games on those things? I am wanting to leave the classic 4 way games only on the menu. Then, remove my Ultimarcs from my mame and replace them with Happ Competions and remove the 4 ways from the menu. The Ultimarc 4/8 switchable is not a bad stick, but nobody but me can figure out how/when to switch it. Plus, The short throw gives me fits playing some games...specifically Robotron. I wish there was a nice way to make mame play nice with a 49 way. I've got 3 of them just laying around.
