My TRON MAME Marquee (Comments Please)
« on: July 01, 2003, 05:35:14 pm »
About to construct my own MAME cabinet and the first thing I had to figure out was whether or not there were any cool marquees related to TRON I could use. Unfortunately there weren't any so I had to take it upon myself. Here's the low-res version of what I whipped up... it is designed to be as close an approximation of the original TRON marquee as possible. Comments are welcome.

I think it looks sharp.

Post a pic when you have it mounted and light showing through it.

That's pretty nice - very Tron-like :)  The only critic I may have and it's a small one is that the white might look a little too bright compared to the rest of the marquee when there's a light behind it.  Hard to say though until it's done.

Is it going to be the theme of your cab?

True, I also may revise it a little bit because depending on the computer I've been on (my work computer is apparently quite a bit brighter) the grid on the outsides is coming through too much and I'm afraid of what a light source will do to that. Since it wouldn't change things TOO much may tone that down a little.

As for the cabinet, yeah, I want to make it all TRON goodness. Been looking for hi-res images for the movie but haven't come up with much. Have the DVD though and have been pulling decent quality caps from the art gallery in it so that may work.

LOL! It's pretty cool!

I just don't like the MAME logo in the marquee because everyone uses it!

I prefer doing brandind the cab myself with a original name! :)

But, congrats for the work anyway! :)

looks cool, but i would do a better gradient in the MAME lettering.

needs to fade in/out of that blue to the black and to the white better.

make sense? the lines are to sharp, not blending right.

Made some minor modifications based on the feedback and tweaked things for a few qualms I had. Any further comments are welcome.
