I am not going to go into some long review of Tornado Terry's new Ms Pacmac stick.

Simply put, the thing rocks.

If you are unhappy with your current 4-way or do not yet have one you can purchase this 4-way with confidence.

I'm contemplating a Ultrastick 360 for general stuff and one of these for dedicated 4-way.  Whadya think?

Having just done this myself, I gotta say.....just use the U360.

I'm tempted to get one of these.  I thought I was okay with just using a U360 for Pac-Man, but I played quite a bit of speed hack Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man at Ground Kontrol over the weekend and did MUCH better than I do at home.  If this stick feels like the original, I may have to get one.

Well, it doesn't feel like that (microswitch vs leaf), but it IS a good 4-way.

Sidenote: Oh, you went back to Ground Kontrol? Cool.

I had a similar experience.  I played speed hack Ms. Pac Man recently on a Galaga reunion cabinet.  I've never played so well.  Almost has me thinking I need a dedicated 4-way in addition to my U360's.

I also have one of these on my panel as a dedicated 4-way. I love it, and I can kick ass in Donkey Kong and Dragon's Lair when I use it. It feels just right. :)

I don't get it?  I think the joystick is terrible for Pacman/Ms Pacman.  There is wayyyyyyy too much play and deadzone.  It feels NOTHING like a real Pacman joystick when actually playing.  It isn't any different than a Happs..in fact it IS a Happs.

What am I missing?  Are we talking about the same joystick?

Hi, it is in fact a Happ base but it has my shaft and knob. The knob that Happ sells is a smaller knob, I have introduced a 1/16th inch larger knob (same size as the original with a matt finish)and a shaft that is 3/4 of an inch longer to accomodate wood control panels(something most of us are using to build our panels) and 2 eclip positions so you can use it on a metal panel. The sticks are also available in colors, something else Happ doesnt do, Yellow, Blue, Red and Green.
While it is true that is doesnt feel like the original, nothing will because leafs and micros are 2 different animals and noone makes a leaf anymore to my knowledge. It does have the diamond pattern on the bottom similar to the original so it absolutly positivly 100% without a doubt will not do anything but 4 ways. FI you are having trouble with your stick, look for a bent or out of position actuator arm on one of the switches, that or a bad switch is the only thing that can cause it to have a dead zone mechanicly speaking. If in mame, i suggest checking all your settings as you could be experiencing some delay in your computer. Tornado Terry ;D

The problem I've noticed seems to be a large dead zone before the switches engage, just like deadmoney5 said. I have two of your Ms Pac sticks and both have the same issue. I don't see a way of bending an actuator arm to fix this.

Just picked up one of these from Terry this weekend.  The green ball top looks fantastic.  The longer shaft for wood cp is great.  Works well and has the exact same "dead zone" before switches engage as my DK cocktail original leaf sticks.

Just thought I would chime in...

The stick rocks!!!!! No dead zones for me, but I pretty much suck at ms. Pacman.

No dead zones for me

All microswitch-based joysticks will have one, just some have more or less than others.

I'm considering this stick for a custom Atari 2600/7800 build. Has anyone used the stick for an application like this and, if so, what are your impressions? I'm looking for real-use impressions with games like Jr.Pac and Pac Man Collection, etc.

Agreed. This is a good stick with micro switches. But Groovygamegear makes a Pac Pro which is leaf based. Just double-check that you get the correct version for metal or wood panels.

Which joystick is the best joystick for playing ms.pac-man for hours and which one for best quickest response?

Is this the PacPro the best Ms. Pac-Man joystick on the market?
PacPro Joystick from Groovy
https://groovygamegear.com/webstore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=65&products_id=402

How does this joystick compare to Tornado Terry's custom joystick?
http://www.tornadoterrys.com/surplus.htm

Is the PacPro the same level as the Tornado Terry or better? and why?

What about, Namco Reunion from TwistedQuarter

Is the spring in these very stiff? I curently use a happ super as my 4-way and the only thing I dont like about it is that it isnt as stiff as the joysticks in the pacman machines at the arcade.

You're experiencing the difference between the rubber grommet the original used and just springs in these newer sticks.

I was not a fan of the Tornado Terry version.

I have played it on the Reunion machine with the spring, it has a different feel than the original with the grommet, but it is also very stiff. The happ super and Ms. Pacman reunion have the same base but I think the reunion stick has a stiffer spring.

What didnt you like about the Tornado Terry stick?

What didnt you like about the Tornado Terry stick?

Large deadzone before switches engage.
Letting go of the stick when pressing one direction causes it to bounce back the other direction triggering the opposite switch.
