Second control panel
cdbrown:
Carsten Carlos was a bit worried that I hadn't posted any questions in a while so here goes ;D
I've got my first 4-player panel sorted for use with nba jam and street fighter type games. I'm trying to work out what I should put on the second panel (I'm trying not to have a third at the moment).
I was thinking it would be for 2 players. 2 of those e-stiks from Andy so it can be changed 8 - 4 then 45 degree as well. 2 spinners. 1 trackball. I was thinking about puting the 2 Happs optical rotary joysticks as well. Does this seem to be a reasonable type of cp? Any recommendations on how many buttons to add? I will be putting the trackball in the middle with 2 buttons, the spinners will be towards the back. Is there anything I should look out for / add on / remove? Connecting up to ipac4 and optipac.
Any responses would be appreciated :D
Cheers

Why 45 degrees? If you are doing this to play qbert you can set Mame to only accept the diagonals from an 8-way stick. I think th optical rotary joysticks would be nice. For each player of a 2 player setup, I would put one joystick on the left- 7 buttons in the middle and a trackball on the right. This setup will cover most games.

It sounds like the T-stick may be in the way of using the spinner. I happen to like dual trackball games like Marble Madness that is why I have that idea.

I was thinking of a layout similar to that on this page http://www.significantbits.com/ac_controlpanel.php. I wouldn't have the LCD or the seperate 4 way or as many buttons across the top. Just haven't thought of a nice place for the spinner per players.
There are games out there that will use spinners for two players - isn't there? or am I just kidding myself?
Have decided to go with the t-stiks as they look quite good and the happs rotary optical 8-ways.
For those with spinners amongst other things on the board where has been the best position for ease of use?
