Help with Gimp or Inkscape - Arc Text

(1/2) > >>

My brother is getting married and I am organising the stag weekend.

I would like some t-shirts/polo shirts printed up using my own design.

Basics are it would have a design on the back and names (all different) on the front chest (small).

Could anyone provide me with this service and a quote? Happy to also exchange services too.

Thanks.

I am trying to create this shape text in GIMP. Is there plugin. Can anyone help?

I created this in word but need the transparency, etc.

MonMotha:
For T-Shirts, you should be using vector art.  Most T-Shirt places will accept an EPS file.

Inkscape is a free/opensource vector art package.  It may or may not be able to do what you have shown there.  You may have to turn the text into paths before you can do that.

I'm sure Adobe Illustrator can do something like that, but it's big $$$.

Yeah, I am using vector, but GIMP is all I have on my work laptop and I need to create a design to show the company my preliminary design in order to get a quote. I am going to get it embroidered.

I won't be home for 2 weeks. I can do this in illustrator in 2 minutes, but I don't have that here. I do have Inkscape though.

How can I create this in either program (without having to trace it)?

Seems I can't attach an XCF or photo shop file, but to do it in Gimp follow these instructions http://www.tutorialized.com/view/tutorial/Text-to-Path/33910 Then go to "Edit" and "Stroke Selection" or "Stroke Path" I am kind of busy at work today and this weekend with my son's 7th birthday otherwise I would try and make a good one up for you and email it to you. You should be able to figure it out though following that tutorial, its not that hard.

Edit: Don't do the paint fill steps in that tutorial. Just create a curved path, type the text, tell it to "text along path" Delete the original text layer and then go to "Stroke Path"
