You're actually not wrong. I am a white guy, with little-to-no rhythm or musical talent.

Thanks for the bump on this thread. I am setting this up for my little arcade right now. Thanks to Yots and the others who did the leg work on this.

I set up my digital signage account. I created my first google spreadsheet, and figured out how to add pictures and titles. Later I will add a snazzy background.
I have a widescreen LCD that will do nicely to display the scores in my arcade.

I just picked up 2 more games so this will be better than a dry erase board.

Here is a rough idea of what I want to do.

Underneath the marquee I have music videos that play. I am going to plug this into my stereo in the arcade.

Any suggestions or criticisms are welcome.

I love it! How are you streaming the videos? YouTube?

Thanks.

I am not very crafty when it comes to online stuff and coding. They have a youtube widget but it costs money.

I downloaded the videos from youtube.
I tried sharing them from my Google Drive account. It didn't like that.
I ended up using a trial of Risevision's  online storage. It works easily from there.

I was going to ask if anyone knew a way to stream these from youtube without using their widget.
There is an HTML widget, but like I said that is outside my expertise.

This is going to be a subtle way for me to honor the memory of my wife. She wasn't a gamer, but she loved 80's music. The cheesier the better for her. I am going to throw a bunch of 80's music videos up on the scoreboard.

I collect 80s videos. I have around 1400 of them. Send me your mailing address and I'll throw them on a hard drive and send them out to you. It's the least I can do.

The Rise Vision system works on my cheap Chinese Android tablet.

I am just going to sticky tape the tablet to the back of a TV I have laying around. The tablet has an HDMI out. I will have to see if I can find a wireless keyboard that will work with the tablet. The app can be set to start on boot, but accessing it will be difficult when it is strapped to the back of the television. Maybe I will just run the HDMI cable with the power cable to a spot where the tablet can be accessed. :dunno

I got my monitor mounted and then realized I could not find a HDMI to mini HDMI cable. I know I had one somewhere. Oh well I just ordered one for a few dollars on Amazon. I can wait two more days.
I have a friend that I built a little one player bar top for. His family is also going to link to my online leader board. This is going to be fun. :applaud:

Here it is up on the wall. The camera washed out the image a bit. It looks much better in person.

It says they don't support the Pi anymore. I think some people in the Rise Vision forums have it working. It works like butter on my 60 dollar Android tablet. I ran an HDMI cable from the monitor to my tablet that sits in a cabinet. If the tablet becomes too cumbersome I will buy an Android stick.

Yotsuya sent me a large collection of 80's videos.

I am not sure how to put in to words how much this means to me. The first date I went on with my wife was a dinner and a movie. I must have made a good impression because she invited me to a bar afterwards. She was super hot so I was feeling pretty good. Little did I know that they do karaoke there. That is not my thing at all. I am a terrible singer, I was a total metal head, and I was a pretty reserved guy. We got drunk, sang a bunch of 80's songs, and we got married a couple years later.

Yots,

I cried like a baby looking through these videos. Every song we sang is in this collection. I also laughed a lot. Thank you so much. The company that hosted the karaoke gave us a video tape of the night, but it was destroyed in a flood many years ago. I didn't really care that much at the time, but I would give anything to have that tape now.

I just was looking at this, and found that they now have a link:

It's yrev very good to see this again.

Glad the Drive make it ok! Enjoy the videos and the memories. Make some new ones with your budding collection.
