Kim Possible themed arcade cabinet (just finshed cpo)

MacGyver:
I finally found a TV that remembers the state it was turned off in, so I'll be using that.  It's 27", and has s-video input, but it has the speakers on the sides, so I'll have to de-case it.  I would love to switch to an actual 27" arcade monitor later, so I might have to wait on the light guns until then.

I live in Heidelberg, it is very beautiful here most of the time, but it's been kind of gloomy recently.  I used to live in Kitzingen near Würzburg, so the winter here in Heidelberg is nothing compared to there.

ArcadeBliss:
Funny I left HD 6 years ago to live in Ingolstadt. If you are using a PAL TV, I would suggest using the SCART connection by making a vga2scart cable and then use soft15hz. The picture quality is a worlds better than s-video. I was using a tv solution and then my tv died  :( I bought a new one, however, the resolutions I was using were not registiering as a signal to the TV and it would turn off on it's own after 5 mins unless I pressed a button on the remote  :banghead:

That finally motivated me to seek out what I always wanted to begin with, an arcade monitor. I currently have written suzo regarding a Wells Gardner 9800. If that doesn't work, I just import one from Xgaming. If you know anyone in the military with access to an APO address, it would cut the price of arcade monitor in half.

MacGyver:
Sadly the TV I got is not SCART:( The problem with APOs is that anything mailed to it has to go through NY first, assuming the company shipping it knows what one is, my joysticks from Ultimarc (they use DHL) went from the UK to the states, then DHL tried to ship them to APO, MN Minnesota :banghead: then DHL lost them, but Ultimarc was great, they found them, and had them shipped to a family member in the states, and from them to me in Germany. Ultimarc=Great :applaud:, DHL=Sucks .  Plus APOs have soldiers moving boxes, I shipped a TV back from Iraq, in it's original box with it's original packing, when I opened it, they had managed to break the tube from it's mount and it bounced around on the electronics.  It had to have been dropped from at least 4 meters to do the damage that was done to it.  I hope to find a UK source and have it shipped to my home address.

ArcadeBliss:
Ja. Sending to APO is sometimes a risky matter. I hear you on Ultimarc. Andy is great. Many establishments could learn from his customer service skills. I sent you a PM let me know what you think. BTW, the link to the monitor I'm planning on using is here www.xgaming.com/htm/wells-gardner-mame-arcade-cabinet-machine-monitor.shtml

MacGyver:
I just finished the plans in sketch up, all of it's measurements are correct, and it has all the internal support structures.  I skinned it so my daughter could see what it would like like.  (Sort of, i can't figure out how to round some of the corners and angles, but she got the idea)  Should be able to start it soon.  I have most of the trimmings, bezel surround, t-molding, coin door, and the vinyl is coming.  Need to order the slot cutter though.

I kind of blended a couple cab styles together, and modified that to accommodate the control panel size, and monitor depth.

Side art is still needed, hopefully something comes to me.

What do you guys think?
