The stencils are "hijacking" the rest of the design.

HOW DARE YOU QUESTION THE GREAT AND POWERFUL AUSS'!

 ;)

Seriously though, IMHO, it's actually retro-cool. It IS very 'out there', but I feel it's in line with the "HEY, LOOK AT THIS" theme.

Some two tone pinstriping around the panel perimeters would be pretty sweet as well.  I think the current works but would like to see some other mock ups for potential paint job before I make my decision prior to delivery in my garage  >:D

I'm not exactly sold on the stencils either.

Seems like Le Chuck's pinstriping idea might be a very good idea to consider in place of the stencils.   :dunno

I have to second (or third) this notion. The whole design gives me warm fuzzies but the stenciled work doesn't quite blend well. Pinstriping could work well.

OK guys,  I'll give some thought to pinstriping and post up a few variations when ready.  I like the idea and it would be easier to do than the stencil design.  Other than than that, I'm stepping away from all things arcade for a while, primarily to tend to other missions but also because I'm weary of it and not putting in a full effort to the builds I have going.  I'll wrap it all up, put it out of sight and out of mind and focus on health, family - the basics.

When I'm re-energized and can tick off some of those things I'll be back.  I'll post some alternative mock-ups after this weekend to mull over.

Ond

Ond,

Do you have a build going on for another arcade machine? If so can you post a link to it or to somewhere I can find the links. Thanks.

The video was excellent. Thank you very much. I appreciate it.

Step away, Ond. This project deserves passionate attention. Anything less is unacceptable. When the fire returns, Astro will be waiting.

WTH, it's been almost 5 years anyway - what's a few more? ;)

Man, will my cab EVER be finished?

IMO, the 60's hotrod pinstriping detracts from the 50's sci-fi look.

I was picturing something more like this, but with rounded corners or maybe a U-shape with tapered ends like the current design.   :dunno

Tramp-stamp-esque.   :duckhunt

I think the straight lines perfectly contrast the roundness of the physical build.

beautiful build, ond... but aren't you going to put some blue on the sides?  it looks lonely on the control panel.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!  :scared

Don't listen to them Ond! Don't!

I like that the only blue is in the controls area.
It highlights them and emphasizes that they serve a purpose.

Nice job old dude... colored smoke graphics starting with the blue vortexing into a warp hole would be my thoughts, Altough to do it to awesome standards a gun would have to be incorporated, and would be difficult to reproduce.

Wait, so does that mean that this cab is not going to be finished this year?  If so then that means the full size category in the user choice awards is open for everyone.  Didn't want to build a cab if I was going to have to go head to head with the retro-futuristic work of art!  May have to slap something together now!

Forget side art! The only thing that should be clinging to the side of that cab is a scantily clad sci-fi babe.
