Didn't you know the movie Paycheck was based on Ond's antics with reverse engineering .

True story.

Did I miss a huge chunk where you finish the upright or did you decide to jump around to a cocktail? Either way I love your work. So thorough and thought out.

Comtek, is that similar to that Deadliest Catch show? I've always wanted a crack at something like that, how would I get into it?

PS: Ond, apologies for derailing your thread! Your cab is amazing BTW!

Nice!

While I liked the metallic, that new red really pops, and the metal slot idea will definitely hold up better.

Wow, updates in thread title as well!

That metal update oozes quality and class. I actually think the mk 1 looks bad now.  :laugh2: As lovely looking as ever.

Impressive as always!
I like the new red, it really "pops" now. The new metal coin slot is also a huge improvement over the painted one.

As for the metal plate behind it, you probably don't need too much shape design on it since you've got a lot of details already in the coin door itself. But then again, the more details the better! :lol

As much as I loved the original version of the coin slot, the new one is miles better (and that's saying something).  Really nice - I also like you idea for the metal backing plate.  I can't wait to see this thing finished!

Nice Ond, and I definitely like Mark II a lot better.  The colour for starters fits the theme a lot better and the metal coin slot is just plain awesome.

I like the old metallic red better, but the new color still looks great, and that new metal coin slot is excellent.

I’ve got new plans in that department involving flock coating and a DIY electrostatic flock applicator.

Funny thing is, at first I read that as "a DIY electronic flux capacitor". Time-traveling capabilities is about the only thing that's going to be missing from this cabinet.

I will of course share how to make the applicator, it's based on an ion generator and some bits of PVC pipe.

Look forward to this Ond, don't forget to tell us what eBay store you get the dilithium crystals to power it  ;D

Oh yeah I nearly forgot, I removed the old plastic slot insert from the PVC and fashioned another from this.

It’s a metal drawer handle from a hardware shop.  I hack sawed it up and after much filing and Dremeling I finally had a much more durable metal slot insert, here’s how the unit looks now with new insert.

Every post it's like reading the next issue of Popular Mechanics...Outstanding! I look forward to seeing the results. :applaud:

Ond,

Outstanding as usual!  :notworthy: We have come to expect nothing short of genius from you!

Do you have any pics of how the head is constructed? Just wondering if it's solid inside so the fibers can't get into the handle.

  • If you don't try, you have no chance at innovation
It didn't dawn on me what the heck Flock was until I saw this post.  I was going to line the inside of my daughter's drawers with this stuff.  Although as OND stated the applicators are expensive, and the process is pretty messy.  It takes some skill to get those Rayon Fibers to stick uniformly to the glue.  So I'm interested to the finished result.....OND the DIY applicator is just genius.

Now that I see what your doing, your turning your Lamborghini into a Bentley.  I'm seeing a stool now with Butter-soft leather, maybe even you stripping off the putty and going with a mahogany woodgrain shell.  Hidden cigar humidifier, Cognac Fridge in in the back, and a butler to boot.

Due to all the ingenuity, I just hope if you have a mental breakdown, they dont find you rubbing the inside of your cab mumbling things about pretty red bunnies. ;D
