Bah - you're right. Darn! And I meant series. See what only one year of electrical engineering gets you? (Plus I took it 18 years ago...)

Now where's my beer?

Personally I think Ond and Saint should team up to write a 2nd book. It's time for a 2nd edition, and I think Ond might be able to contribute just a little bit of creative knowledge.

Just a bit.

Ond, well said on your response to me. I've built some junk in my eyes, but I was as proud as a new Papa when it fired up and worked. I look back now and think what was I thinking, but others say well with a little work it could look nice, but it works great.

Haha

You know what’s nice, putting my hands around the curved corners of the CP in the pinball playing position.  I’d love to say I intended this, and maybe, subconsciously I did, but the curved surfaces on those outer CP edges fit perfectly into the palm of each hand, the position lines up with your flipper fingers exactly.  It’s nearly (but not quite) as nice as putting your hands on the bare hips of a stunning woman who’s in damn fine shape, smooth, firm and full of promise.

Never mind Macgyvering arcade creations, you just created a new super mixture of arcade-porn in one suggestive paragraph!  Damn, now I need a smoke. :laugh2:

Thanks Epyx, I like it too.  I came home last night from work stressed and pissed off, drawn to the sounds of Linkin Park shredding my PC speakers,  that was the result.  Therapy man, therapy  .  I feel much better now.

Good choice of stress relief!

Or you could rotate the CPs so they meet and lock in place along the long side of the cabinet!  If only there was someone around here with mad skillz who was crazy enough to pull this off...  hmmmm....

I like the cocktail design. I have been kicking around ideas of how my (future) cocktail should look. The way you have the top is basically how I plan to do mine. Molded/painted exterior trim, inset acrylic. I recently bought an HVLP spray gun and plan to use soft touch clear on all surfaces. I just need to find the time.

I love watching your build. Your skills are top notch and your patience is even better.

i can understand the working in spurts... I'm a traveling worker on the road for a week or 2 then home for a weekend. kinda why i haven't started a project yet besides every time i think i know exactly what i want i find another project that is just perfect... i really enjoy your craftsmanship and creativity and then there is other builders like Knievel that just make some great cabs.. the list could go on quite a ways as far as people's builds i have been following.some day ill take a week off and see what i can do but it will take a Lil while last vacation i spent remodeling a room at the parents house around Christmas

Ond,

I know your all about creating parts froms scratch, but I found these little gems.  Just in case you decide to dress up some more leds....

The site has all kinds of other goodies too, I ordered a few from www.mouser.com. Good prices and they ship international.

They look great....I plan on doing some trackball and spinner mods.....

They come in 3mm, 5mm diffused, clear and fresnel lens....Might be a shortage of buttons at some point ya know....

Ond, I've been following your build for quite sometime now and I must say Holy <insert any/all explicative here>.  I don't think that I'm alone in saying that your work here is an inspiration to the community to push the envelope.   :applaud:

Now that the ego petting is out of the way ... I have a problem that I'm hoping that you can help me with...

Every time I go near my cab my hands start to shake, I break into cold sweats, I get very moody and last night I had hallucination that I saw a bat flapping around my control panel. As far as I can tell I'm suffering from WITHDRAWAL!!! Come on man I just need a little LED action or spray puddy.  Come on man I'm good for it I promise ....

I know, I keep checking this thread too, just to see what he'll add next!  Great DIY inspiration!  At a high level you look at it and think, doesnt look like an arcade to me.. then you read the posts and see all the work he did, and its more like a piece of futuristic playable art...  I just want to see the finished product!!!

My favorite part of your build updates are how you make your own parts.  This is another great example.  Keep it up, it's very inspirational.

The part that I can't get over is that his 'DIY' parts are more robust, have better fit & finish, look better, and will last longer than OEM parts.

Seriously, some companies take YEARS to develop and release a part revision for commercial use. Ond MacGuyver's his stuff from random household parts.

Eat your hearts out R&D teams!

Ond,

<Loud exhale> Thanks for the fix man ....  ;D

After following the pinball plunger I was wondering if you could help me with another problem I have.  I have a paper clip, some twine, super glue and 1 2x4 sheet of water logged plywood.  I need to build a transatlantic aircraft.  Can you give me step by step instructions, and nice pics so I can make sure I'm doing it right???

Good God Man what can't you build???   :notworthy:
