Ridiculously amazingly ridiculous and awesome! That, sir, is possibly the coolest thing I've seen in a long, long time!

Love this cab Ond!

Btw, Ond, as you have screw-in buttons, you should be able to use them to hold a mounting plate for the joysticks. A rectangular plate with button holes and screws attached that match the actual stick ones. This way you won't have to drill through that panel, and these plates can be removed very easily.

Great idea! and I totally did NOT think of that.  The CP plate will be covered by Laminex around the joysticks though so drilling it is not a problem, hmm I'll ponder it further.

Now that I look at my sketch I realize that you could probably even use your router and make a track in the wood that the mounting plate slides into instead of mounting a "lip" onto the panel. And I agree it's a great idea.  ;)

OK I just read this project from page one to current, this is the most ridiculously amazing build I have seen and read to date. So good I am afraid to even start my project that will be so inferior. I would be lucky to get 50% of this quality.  :'(  Just hope this site doesn't self-destruct when you post the finished build as it wont be-able to contain its awesomeness .    :dizzy:

Nothing anyone ever says will give this build enough praise.  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

A truly amazing build to follow and ditto to everyone else’s complements. I recon you could rent it out for mega bucks to a science fiction movie producer. I imagine it being played by some future dude on a distant planet, it is bound to make the movie better anyway.

That is amazing.  I love your design, and I appreciate how much work goes into the curved plywood.  Incredible job!  Can't wait to see it done!  :notworthy:

Nice to see some more pics buddy   :)

I can imagine your wiring took a while, ouch! Looks great though.

I have those LED enclosures wired up on one of my machines now. I'll shoot you some pics over. There is also a couple of further mods we could do to alter the brightness/effect and mounting depth if needs be.

Have a great NYE bud

Woohoo, update!  That spinner looks bad-ass.

Quote from: Ond
The curved plywood shapes all started out life as some doodling on the back of a memo at work.  From a rough daydream sketch to 3D design it was then, ok how can I make this thing real, what materials?  One pair of odd angles at the rear of the CP unit required steaming plywood over a kettle to generate a twist in the panels to match the design :dizzy:.

I hear you.  I tried steaming plywood once; ended up with a steaming pile.   :lol
You seem to have had more success.
