Hey Ond if you're looking for a young apprentice I can come live in your garage and be responsible for making coffee and going on beer runs. You are insane. You have gone so far above and beyond what I thought any one person could create with their own hands. I can't wait to see the finished product. :burgerking:

Now that (up there) is funny....Thanks for the laugh Xevious, OND makes me look bad too, it's amazing what he's done. ! I'm totally blown away.....

now if I could only find some darn Spray putty. I have checked  lowes/homedepot/walmart/pepboys/autozone/napa.....

want to hear something funny concerning spray putty.....

Since I cannot find any stateside, I looked on ebay and saw this:

kind of pricey, with the shipping, even worse, it's out of the UK.

so I send a friendly email to SIMONIZ, asking them where I can get some in the us. after 8 back and forths, Simoniz denies this product even exists.....just my luck....I got tired of arguing with them, even sent them the pic........

guess i have to pay for overseas shipping, what a bummer.....I think that stuff can save/hide my crappy craftsmanship, I want a plastic looking finish.....for my cab......

I spent some time in a local AutoZone looking at all the spray products available in the auto finishing section.  After looking at everything and reading a lot of lables I picked up one can of this stuff, RustOleum Filler Primer.  Basically the spray putty that Ond is using fills the cracks and smooths out the surface.  That is exactly what this stuff says it will do.  I haven't given this a try yet.  We are in the middle of an early cold snap and had our first hard freeze over night.  We may not see any warm temps for some time so if anyone wants to do the test in a warmer location please post your results here.

Can't you find something like that in the UK? In the Netherlands I found some from Motip. I bought it at a car accessory store.

Motip Spray Putty

Motip Spray Putty

It is Stateside where we can't find this stuff.  To be honest what is called Spray Putty in Europe could be the same type of stuff that is called Filler Primmer here in the States.  The product descriptions are almost identical.

Michael

*** edit ***
After reading the technical information and MSDS documents they both have the same type of chemicals.  Though my guess is that the chemicals listed are for the propellant.  They both refer to containing a resin.  The Rustoleum product has a higher solids percentage than the Spray Putty (32% vrs. 27%).  It could be the same type of product just called different due to local laws.  We also have to keep in mind the process that Ond uses in applying the product which he describes in detail here.

Just to let you know that for the UK, this eBay shop stocks filler/primer spray putty:

I think it's just a different name for what we (in the US) call a "High Build Primer".

The same thing are given different names over here, as I found out when I moved from London (England) to Houston, Texas.

eg: Skirting Board = Baseboard; Scones = Biscuits; Biscuits = Cookies; Plasterboard = Sheetrock; Pikey = Redneck.  ;)

I don't know why everyone praises him.  This is NOT an arcade cabinet.  He's planning on taking over the world with this thing.  He hasn't posted the pictures of the nuclear reactor inside (or maybe it was a matter/anti matter reactor).

Oh the estimated time to completion?  2012

Coincidence?

Nice tweak on the graphics card.

I'll have to take a look at that card. I thought I could get by with the onboard graphics of the mobo I picked up, and for MAME, it's fine, but boy, try running Future Pin or Visual Pinball on it and it completely dogs down.

So if I'm gonna update it, might as well go whole hog.

Love those speaker mounts, too. You must enjoy bondo far more than I ever did  :)

::)

With the amount of one-off work he's done building this cabinet, you'd have to offer him around $15k to build you another (and even then he might be sick of working on it and just want a rest from building).

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this or not OND  ::)  :blah: :blah: :blah: . But your work is amazing....LOL, yes I think it's been mentioned a couple times. Don't mean to sound like a broken record (and no need to thank me). But every update is more captivating, I've never known/seen/read about anyone that can make a PVC pipe look like it was made by BOSE. You are gifted, your thread is great and I look forward to every update, and really curious about the whole wire/mesh deal, want to see how that all works, keep the digicam batteries fresh.

oh, and, just walked through my garage and took a glance at my cab....... :laugh2:  boy i suk.....lol    :banghead:   :badmood:
