 :laugh2:

My inet's been down all weekend so I've missed some things.

I too really want to see what those speakers ears end up looking like!

I'd have to agree though, you CANNOT be allowed to finish this cab.

That is, of course, unless your next cab is an enclosed driving cockpit you build for me

Wow, if things turn out half as nice as the render, that's going to be sweet.

But with all that chrome, it needs a polished packard flying girl hood ornament on top, or at least some cadillac fins on the sides  ;)

Really nice!

:dizzy: I have been watching this thread but now I just have to comment.  This machine is really coming together and now that I see your final concept I am totally blown away.  And judging by the stellar work you have done so far I am convinced your machine will look like your render....  awesome.

super creative and totally original.

Holy crap ond... just looked at the previous page (I had missed somehow) to see the monitor housing. That is by far the most impressive woodwork I've seen in my 10 years here. I'm still reeling. Making a cylinder like that would be impressive, but a dome for crissakes!?!?? Hats off.

Agreed Pixelhugger.  Now get back to work! Even my pixelhugger watch (which counts time in decades..says your coffee break is over)  :lol

What is so sad is that usually we worry about an arcade cabinet looking bad in a living room and WAF. I think this is the first project where the living room would look bad and the wife unit would have to scramble to replace stuff to compliment the cab.

Sorry, I gotta say it again, that is EXCELLENT.....excellent work under hazardous conditions even......

Is that PVC for the speaker enclosures? will that effect the sound? wondering......

have fun camping but leave your laptop at home, or so says my wife....."but honey, might need to identify a snake or spider, or find the closest wal-mart" LOL

camping is great, I'm originally from NH, but live in FL, used to camp ALOT, but don't down here, too many things can KILL you in the woods here....anyway, enjoy, you have such a great project there, I was considering something similar,

Keep the pictures coming, they make the thread, for me anyway. I'm tuning in with great anticipation.....THANK YOU

How are you planning on covering the dome around the monitor? I had assumed Resin of some type, fiberglass or something, but now I'm leaning towards an industrial sized container of Spray Putty.....please share (if you have and I missed it, it's because I'm lost in those pictures of your amazing project)

Peace...

I can see why the speaker enclosures took so long.  You had a lot of fine fitting to get it just right.  From the sounds of your post you do need a break.  Enjoy next weekend with the family and we'll catch you on the flip side.

So KEEP WORKING!!!

@Shortbus

About the spray putty, try Pep boys, or an auto refinishing supply house. You might have better luck one that kind of a place...

@Ond
As usual, impressive. I love the use of the PVC corners (that's gotta be what those are, right?) Very clever!
Are you going to chrome plate those somehow? I'm very interested in how you  might do that.

I've got some pieces that I may want to get brass plated eventually.

I'm in Texas, so I know all about dodging hail (ducking under overpasses in the car, etc).

Have fun camping!

I've been lurking on these forums for a while but feel I have to pipe up and pay my respects!

That's one-helluva nice LCD panel you've got on there too!

Awesome, you've got the whole community waiting with bated breath, we will try and survive a weekend sans-updates!

If you are anything like me Ond you would have spent at least two hours in the plumbing section at Bunnings staring blankly at the shelves of PVC fittings trying to work out exactly what you needed for your speaker tubes. In my experience there's always one fitting that you need that the pipe company has never ever made. :dizzy:

I got that exact same reaction from the "older" ladies in the "crafty stamp shop" place where I bought the floral stamp and ink I used on the CP.

(she, kind of flustered looking)
"So, what are you working on?"

"It's for an arcade machine control panel"

Now that (up there) is funny....Thanks for the laugh Xevious, OND makes me look bad too, it's amazing what he's done. ! I'm totally blown away.....

now if I could only find some darn Spray putty. I have checked  lowes/homedepot/walmart/pepboys/autozone/napa.....

want to hear something funny concerning spray putty.....

Since I cannot find any stateside, I looked on ebay and saw this:

kind of pricey, with the shipping, even worse, it's out of the UK.

so I send a friendly email to SIMONIZ, asking them where I can get some in the us. after 8 back and forths, Simoniz denies this product even exists.....just my luck....I got tired of arguing with them, even sent them the pic........

guess i have to pay for overseas shipping, what a bummer.....I think that stuff can save/hide my crappy craftsmanship, I want a plastic looking finish.....for my cab......

Wow, she's pricey, but you can get a liter can size at a time, so not too bad. Coming from New Zealand, though.

http://www.smitsgroup.co.nz/shop.aspx?showproduct=350

Here's the same product, at the manufacturer's home page. Maybe you could work out some kind of volume purchase to the US?

http://www.septone.com.au/detail.asp?item_cat=5&item_number=231&page_num=2

Here's the product that BurgerKingDiamond posted about, available at  UK dealer. They do take Paypal, though, and who knows, maybe they'll ship to the US for you?

Hey Kman-Sweden I see you're into Maiden. Me too. Do you like King Diamond/Mercyful Fate?
