Holy kick-ass DIY Batman!
The paint (primer?!) finish on those pictures... looks like commercial molded plastic or carbon fiber or something...
This is a fantastic-looking machine, luckily with well put-together electronics and internals. It will look like a factory finish once done, and I totally get the 'retro-futuristic' look you are going for - kind of what people in the 60's and 70's would consider futuristic (like looking back at Star Trek now - all spangly and shiny but basically just clever moulding and trickery). This reminds me a lot of a 'Computer Space' cabinet.
Couple of questions though - How are you controlling the volume/bass of that car sound system? Is there some kind of controller module that would mount nicely on the shell to adjust these levels, like the ones you sometimes get with 2.1 PC speaker systems? Also, how sturdy is the overall design? I know from in-car builds that wood, filler and fibreglass builds often crack with heat or over time as the chemical compound of them shrink and dehydrate.
