Anyone else see a devil with one eye when they see this? Looks bad ass. Looks like an arcade character. Kind of reminds me of Satans Hollow (The Devil)

Sigh, when you can post a video in November and hear the birds chirping...

So is the glass going to be stationary or rotate with the monitor?

Glass will be masked (as I said)  and rotate with the monitor.  Just the screen will be visible.

This looks great all stood up!  :applaud:

The inside (behind the monitor) looks really nice.  It's a shame to cover it up.

I'm thinking dark smoked glass (fixed), with some  LEDs behind the monitor for attract mode.  Or maybe some cool effects during rotation.  Then black during gameplay.

Flashing multicolored lights would look cool with that acoustic foam.

Complete mini arcade cabinet plans available.

At one point you had the base completely painted didn't you?

Rotation is the best I've ever seen, hands down.  Great move on the constant speed - the change of pitch attracts much more attention from the listener than a steady sound.

I was surprised by the use of powder coat on the glass masking.  Will the heat bother the glass/tempering?  I know that powder coating processes don't get extremely hot.  Spray paint and fine line tape worked perfectly for me although it does scratch off easily if not padded at points of contact.

I think this looks amazing.
I would of went with Jet Red however, and where the yellow is, I would of made it black. Having a furious dark red with black would of looked intense, in my opinion.

That yellow is the primer Ond uses.  the base is all red or at one point it was.  I don't think the yellow is the finish.

I am so sorry to go backwards on this incredible thread & by all means, everyone feel free to flame me for it (my own fault for being away from the thread for so long ... I'm so ashamed)

But I had to make the comment...

Ond, that "cockpit section of the spaceship of yours is screaming for a minimal led bubbled portion of it's own... especially considering as I remember my wasted youth in the arcades, they were always so dark to let the screens be the focus... I just think all that work on chroming the spaceship needs to be seen (yeah... I realize this is going into a home and probably not going to shoved into a dark closet corner like most of the arcades I remember... but still)

Just an opinion.

:P Let the crucifixion begin lol.

BYOAC has been OND free for too long no?  :P  I’m looking forward to getting back in to arcade related fun, wrapping up Astro (this cab) and some other stuff as well.  See yas all round!  ;D

Thanks for the update, I guess we all can't wait until we see Astro take off but with great projects comes extremely long threads.

It's time to render unto Comtek what is Comtek's (winner of the "name my cab competition errr some pages ago....) ;D. @ Comtek - PM sent to you.

Initial sketch -the design criteria was for etched glass inserts or panels, I decided on a cocktail cab (because I haven't really designed one before)

Here is the first draft render of that concept, including etched glass panels with space ship stylized etching with inner glow lighting, speakers are located under each CP panel.  CRT monitor fitted (fixed aspect)
I've tried to make it interesting without being too difficult to build.

more on my own cab soon...

It's been over 2 years since i have been on the site.
and i have to say it is not a suprise that this cab turned out how it did.
OND once again still amazed at the level of your work.
also i'm proud to have come up with the name for this piece of art

Nah, 1/2" thick black foamboard and duct tape ought to do the trick.

It is really nice to see Ond back on his project, indeed.

I don't think he wants any visible hardware or mounting bolts on the glass at all.
