Having issues with my GP Wiz40 that i just got in the mail (and i know the real issue is me in all this  :P ) I am running Mamewah 1.63 with v.125 of mame

Trying to set up my rotary joystick but with not much luck. Have replaced my KEYWiz 1.5 to the above product. Also have the usb rotary interface connector as well (http://www.ultimarc.com/rotary.html)

My problem: I have lost my Player 1 and 2 coin and start buttons. I beleive i have them hooked up right from the pinout....Player 1 coin/7, Start/8. Player 2 Coin/G, Start/H. Can someone confirm? Do i need to change anything in mame/frontend?

Also how the hell do i get the rotary going?? I have the main wiring loom that comes straight out of the base of the rotary connected to the usb rotary interface, this is then attached straight to the pc into a usb...i have ground going to ground in my GP Wiz40, but how do i get not only the rotary inputs configured but the up/down/left/right inputs as well.

Please, please help...dying to play Heavy Barrel tonite...

Can you go into the windows control panel -> game controllers and bring up the properties for the GP-Wiz?  When you press your buttons, you should be able to see what (if anything) they are actually being mapped to.

I'm really confused here.  Did you know that the GP-Wiz supports rotary functionality?  You don't need the Ultimarc interface if you are using the GP-Wiz.  UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT on your rotary sticks must be configured to GPWiz as if they were buttons or any other joystick.  If you insist on using the Ultimarc Rotary Interface, understand that only the rotary signals go through the interface's USB.

Yeah...i did this and it seems that when all buttons and joysticks are pushed they show to be mapped to the correct positions.

Ok....so the Ultimarc rotary interface is what controls the rotary aspect..got it..i have that str8 into the pc but not sure where to go to get it to work. Also are you saying that i dont need this at all? The wiring loom from the base of the rotary joystick plugs str8 into it, there is no spot for this loom on the KeyWiz40.

The up/down/left/right on this joystick must go into the Keywiz...yeah??? same inputs as player one joystick??

DO i need to do something in mamewah or mame to get all of this back?

The Ultimarc rotary interface will control the rotary aspect, but only if you decide to use it.  Being the owner of a GP-Wiz40, you don't need it.

As isucamper said, the GP-Wiz40 has its own built-in support for rotary joysticks.

Yes, that's what he was saying.

That's true.

That's the only advantage of the Ultimarc rotary interface - simpler connection - the wiring loom plugs straight into it.

I've made a suggestion to Randy here, that he should offer a similarly convenient plug for the GGG interfaces :

You need to wire up the rotary connections on your joysticks to the GP-Wiz40 in accordance with this diagram :

Yes, that's right.

Ok, I'm confused again.  Are you using a KeyWiz or a GPWiz?  Only the GPWiz has rotary capability.  If you want to use it with Happ Rotary sticks, you need to cut off the harness and wire the inputs up directly to the screw terminals per Randy's documentation.  I've done this and it works super.  You even get functionality for a few more games that the Ultimarc interface can't handle (Frontline, Tin Star).

To test your Ultimarc interface, just open up Notepad and start turning the stick.  You should see a [ character for each right turn and a ] character for each left.  If you're not getting anything, be sure that windows is recognizing the device as a generic USB HID device (look in your device manager).  If it is and you STILL aren't getting anything, be sure your harness (or loom as you called it) is not plugged in upside down.  When I first tried mine, the intuitive way to plug it in was upside down.  I sent a picture to Andy of how I was doing it and he told me I plugged both sticks in upside down.  Turning them right side up fixed them up perfectly.
