Wiring a LCD monitor to a PC power supply??
« on: January 10, 2009, 02:51:29 pm »
I'm currently in the process of building a bartop arcade.  Im trying to set it up so that I only have one cord to plug into wall outlet.  Originally I thought to use a powestrip but there is very little to no room in this bartop to allow this.  Now Im considering cutting the end of a three prong plug and somehow soldering it to the inside of a pc power suppy.  Has anyone tried this or anything similar to this?  Any other ideas or thoughts?  Help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

You could do what mountain did (and subsequently what I'm doing) install a AC inlet socket and take power from that. Cut the plug off the monitor cable and wire it to the socket terminals:

Excellent idea, question what about opening the power supply and using the cut cord and soldering the wires to the inside of the power supply's ac inlet socket?  The same ac inlet socket that has the wires already soldered to the power supply?  That should work fine too right?
