Today the motherboard, ram, harddrive, and powersource arrived. :applaud: I finished painting everything and started putting the base together. Everything fits together so far.............
I finished off the day by mounting the harddrive and motherboard to their new homes and they fit nicely. Once I can start getting the frame together, I'll start to get the wiring underway.
Oh, and there is one slight problem down the road with this design, I'm not going to exactly be able to get the monitor out....................ever. But, I'll cross that bridge when it gets here. :banghead:

Build something in - we hd hell replacing a faulty / blown speaker

Tonight the speaker arrived. Needless to say, it was a lot of work to get it ready. First, I would like to say, Altec is misleading in the fact that the speaker housing only has two real speakers and a third without a magnet or connections. Talk about a ripoff. Anyways, I had three issues to address. First, was figuring out how to open the dang thing as it was completely glued together. I used some channel locks to help "convince" it that it should open. Second, I created a holder for the speakers to cut out on the cnc, as the case it came in wasn't in the best condition after our little talk. It was also not an ideal design for easy placement. And last, but not least, I desoldered the power plug and soldered in some wires to run the power in line with the rest since there will be no plug ins on the inside of the jukebox. So far, the house is still standing. :dunno

A non connected speaker is usually a passive radiator - it acts somewhere between a ported and sealed box, so you get some extended response like a port gives you, without the total loss of control of the speaker when trying to operate below it.
in something like this with small drivers and I assume equalisation and a subsonic filter I would question the need for it so it might just be a marketing thing.

The reason for my little rant was because the completely sealed case gives the impression that there are three speakers in there, and there is actually, it's just that it's a complete blank. Thanks for the info though!
