Do I need player 2 coin?
blind_dado:
Are there any games that would REQUIRE me to use the player two coin? ("6" in mame) or can I just get by with using the player one coin ("5" in mame)? Will player two always be able to join a game using credits entered via the player one coin?
Ginsu Victim:
Not that many games require a second player coin, but there's enough of them that do that you could set a shifted key to allow coin 1 to become coin 2 when shift is held. That or make a hidden player 2 coin button.

The answer is yes, you will want some way to put in coins into player 2 slot.
An alternative to what Ginsu describes, you could also map player 2 coin to "5" as well, so every time you hit player 1 coin it counts one for each player. If like me and my friends, you dont really care about counting "quarters" when playing games, this should work fine.

Basically, most cooperative games require separate coins for the various players for obvious reasons. Like Gauntlet, beat 'em ups like TMNT/Double Dragon/Final Fight/Rampage, etc, and many cooperative shoot em ups.
EDIT: removed DD and FF, added Rampage

On my control panel I DO have a coin 1 and coin 2 set up. But now I'm wiring the coin door and for various reasons can only have a coin 1 wired to both coint slots. I was wondering if I could get by with that for the majority of the two player games, or if most of them require a seperate player 2 coin for player 2.
