Moving Tips

Visitor Q:

My cab will finally be here on Monday! I am very excited about this but will be more so when it is safely brought into my home which includes a trip down a flight of stairs.  Can anyone provide some tips for moving this beast? It is coming with the monitor and speakers pre-installed, how heavy can I expect it to weight would you guys think? I can get a couple of friends to move it, I just want to make sure I handle is properly.

Thanks.

The more friends, the better. I hope your stairway is wide too. No matter how you do it, it is gonna be difficult.

As for weight, probably about 350 lbs if built with MDF.

Visitor Q:

Yeah... That is the number I just heard from Scott at Mameroom, 350lbs. =/
He said to handle it from the sides and not the top and the bottom.

These are cellar doors that have had WS TVs, Fridges, Deep Freezers, Washers etc. move in and out from so I am hoping I can handle this.

The shape of this and tipping it back is what bothers me most.

I always take the monitor out and, if convenient, I take off the control panel when going down stairs. If you atleast take out that monitor, that will take 50-75 lbs off the weight of the cab. Every little bit helps!

Visitor Q:

CP will be off so that is not an issue, the monitor will remain installed but I see your point.
