Only hard part is to find a set that looks a bit minimalistic. Car speakers have a lot of bling-bling styling. You can also buy normal DIY speakers, but they often have a narrow spectrum. Car speakers have 2 way drivers in one piece very often and can handle 50-20000Hz, which is quite good. For better performance, try to close the compartment of the speakers. Don't let them fill the whole cab as the sound can make all other stuff shake.

yeah thats what i was thinking.. was gonna jusr under mount them (so they are mount on the inside of the cabinet and just get some 4" round plan speaker grills so that the look isnt a issue only problem with running car speakers i'm finding is trying to find something shielded.. the sit a little close to the tv to run anything unshielded..

I used car speakers in mine. You can get bucking magnets from partsexpress.com if there is a shielding problem. They are really cheap. This is what I had to do in order stop some discoloring the tv set.
I didn't use a car amp setup but I used a set of logitechs and connected them to the car speakers instead of using the satellite speakers that come with the set.

I had originally bought car speakers on mine as well, but the magnets were too close to my arcade monitor so I had to return them. I ended up using the Creative 2.1 speakers and they are shielded. I am very happy with them and they are loud enough to wake up the neighbors, but not enough to shake the cabinet (with the bass turned down).
Usually, TV speakers are of lower quality and I would not recommend using them. Why bother with all that extra amp stuff anyway? The 2.1 systems are hassle free and no messy wiring.

I definitly recommend going with some 2.1 computer speakers. I got the Logitech X-240 on sale for $29.99 from a local computer store. They put out great sound and are shielded.
I liked this model because they have flat front satellite speakers, no buttons or control knobs, so they were easy to mount against the cabinet speaker holes. The sub woofer has a adjustment for the bass control. They also have a separate volume control module that also allows for MP3 input.
They were easy to hook up and hassle free. Definite recommendation here.
