Ebay: I could totally screw this person...

I had watched a local auction for an overpriced Jukebox recently, and put in a starter bid for the hell of it for $100, even though the guy had a reserve. You never know what people set their reserve at. Well noone ever bid other than that.

I surprisingly just got a 2nd chance offer of my bid ($100)! I was shocked and ready to call the wife to get approval. Then I read closer. In the comments, the seller wrote I could have it if I paid before Christmas in the amount of $500.

I can understand being frustrated at ebay's fees, but the seller only has himself to blame for using BIN of $700 reserve of what I assume was $500. The Juke is max worth $250. What he did kind of pissed me off, and I briefly considered accepting the OFFICIAL offer of $100 just to screw with him. I also considered reporting him. In the end, I simply wrote to him this:

--- Quote ---You can't put up a BIN offer of $100, and then ask for $500. That is violating ebay policy. I won't report you solely because I sympathize with the ridiculous fees ebay charges.

Anyways, I am not interested at that price. You would probably find a local buyer via craigslist, but I doubt for much more than $250.
--- End quote ---

What would you guys have done?

HaRuMaN:
I probably would have done what you did, but depending on the tone of his response, I would probably think about reporting him.   :dunno

orion:
That seems perfectly reasonable to me as well. It's probably not worth the effort to have taken it further.

ChadTower:

I would have just ignored it.

shardian:
Person apparently didn't understand how the 2nd chance offer system works. They apologized and relisted for $500 BIN.
