Cocktail cabinet... worth building one for anything but vert's????

Games001:
Hi folks.  I have been considering picking up this beat to heck cocktail near my home.. but I can't really see if this is something I personally want to keep as a unit in my collection, even after I fix'er'up.  I can understand 1-player use of the machine as a table top view, but 2-players (fighting games, aero fighter types, etc) just don't seem to fit the style of the cabinet layout.

Am I mistaken or just being picky?  :dunno

Opinions appreciated from those both with and without cocktails of their own.

Cocktails are great!  You pretty much nailed it that 2 player co-op doesn't work but everything else does (including horizontal games on the vertical screen).  Plus, it's a table!  If you build it right it won't look out of place in an actual room in your house that isn't the basement, attic or garage.

You can do co-op if you have a control panel on the long side, or if it's a joust style cocktail.

well, that's what I figured. :)  The reason I ask is because I have this item near me for a low cost and I was intent on MAMEing the heck out of it.  As to making it 2-player, that's a tough call I think with its current design.

My first cab was a 3-sided cocktail and it is definitely the most versatile of my cabinets. I keep it at the cottage and, during the summer time, it gets a lot of use for classics and for 2-player horizontal stuff.

For the love of all things holy, don't ever listen to lew and MAME a Joust cocktail ...
