| What's the best way to clean out a trackball? |
| (1/1) |
| Jimbo:
I have a Happ 3" high-ball trackball. It's not working that great when spinning to the right, so I've opened it up and taken it apart. I have the ball, rollers, and bearings. I've soaked the ball and rollers in some warm soapy water and given them a good clean. If anyone has some good advice on what to do with the bearings, and in general if I've missed anything, that would be great. |

If the bearings are bound up, some folks recommend spinning them using a drill (technique shown in link below). I just pitch them at that point (only two so far and those were, coincidentally, pitched this weekend). I use 3-in-1 oil to lubricate trackball bearings. At the end of the day, you are probably best to follow the advice of Bob Roberts on the subject. |

Thanks. Thats a good article! I'll get some 3-in-1 oil and give it a try. |
