winVICE with mamewah?
« on: December 01, 2008, 09:15:12 am »
Hi,
apologies if this has been answered but I can't find much info on it.
I am trying to get winvice working with mamewah, i have downloaded the winvice exe, the c64 wrapper, the c64 ini but can't seem to piece it together.
I know I should be following the way I have my working mame setup but just cant seem to get it.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks.
Sham.

Decided to keep trying and have gotten a bit further.
I can see the emu in the platform choice of Mamewah and can get the list of games generated but when I try to launch a game it just hangs..
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

The wrapper isn't needed, and anyways it doesn't seem you're using it.
Is there any reason you're using the 1.22 version instead of the newer 2.0 version?
http://www.zimmers.net/anonftp/pub/cbm/crossplatform/emulators/VICE/WinVICE-2.0.zip

This is what you're command line should look like:
Code: [Select]
C:\emulators\Programs\WinVICE-2.0\x64.exe -fullscreen +confirmexit -autostart "[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{dosbox}{safelaunch}
Also for some reason it wouldn't load my zipped games. Make sure they're unzipped.
These are the extensions i'm positive it supports:
Code: [Select]
D64;T64;x64

tried this last night and its still not working.
I can see the emu trying to load but its a small window and then it just hangs.
I am getting further but not sure where to go from here.
If I try to run it from a commandline forgetting about mamewah it works fine?

The reason it isn't loading from the command line is because you're using
Code: [Select]
"[rompath]\[name].[romext]"{dosbox}{nosafelaunch}This should only be used with mamewah's ini files.

You have to specify the entire path when running it directly from the emulator. In my case:
Code: [Select]
x64.exe -fullscreen +confirmexit -autostart "C:\Documents and Settings\Main Man\Desktop\WinVICE-2.0\1942 (1986)(Elite)[cr 1001].zip"

Thanks so much Gonzo finally got it working, had to change a few settings in the GUI aswell, PAL emulation and couple of other things so have it working from the emulator.
Now how do I get it to run from Mamewah...
Thanks.

Still having problems running this from mamewah.
I am confused about the ini files.
The way I have it setup is I have a folder structure c:/emulators/programs/winvice
This is where the winvice install is along with the .exe and the roms (in C64ROMS folder)
Within the mamewah(1.63) folder I have a config folder where I have a winvice folder with an ini file.
Could somebody explain the ini files as I have done so much changing them around I think I might have messed up.
Here is the latest error I am getting.
I can see the list of games in Mamewah but when I try to load one I can see the emu opening and then it crashes the pc?
Thanks for your patience.
