82mm metal/HSS hole saw in the UK?

Hi guys,

I've had my metal CP re-made due to the completely random position of the button holes when I got it. I've got a 29mm HSS hole saw for the buttons, however the 82mm hole saw I bought for the trackball said it was for metal but it's not. Do any of you know of anyone/anywhere selling an 82mm HSS hole saw please?

TIA all

Franco B:

Just having a bit of a google for you.

This one will cut metal as its HSS. Its 83mm but the 0.5mm per side shouldnt matter.

Its £11.93 of ebay

There is also this adjustable one but its not cheap:

Its £64.57. It says it will cut sheet metal up to 1mm thick, im not sure how thick your CP is.

Worst case scenario if you send your CP to me I could circle interpolate the hole for you at work.

Wicked thanks Franco, I'll check it out.

This is actually identical to one I'm replacing; basically I bought the same one but under a different brand (HSS, said it would go through steel) and all it did was put a light groove in the metal when they offered it up and take the edges off the teeth!!!

Where abouts are you based please Franco? I may well take you up on this kind offer!!

Cheers
Jon

If the ring covers 1mm of the metal, you would have enough margin to cut it with a fret saw. It's pretty accurate, cheap and fast enough for this occasion.
I see that another post is about the same CP. Did you consider getting the CP CNC-ed? I think it's not worth the mess of drilling-yourself.
