I took some time and laid out the template for the CPO with the buttons and everything so I can get a good judge of placement.  I added some text for ESC, BACK, and SELECT and needed to get them just right.  I think it looks really good and can't wait to get the actual CPO.

I would consider moving the $0.25 button to the front of the CP and maybe some of the other admin buttons... looks good though!

I considered that.  It is somewhat distracting on the front.  The reason I went with it where it is was mainly aesthetic... It would have messed up my symmetry in the front.  Also, I already drilled the hole.  I could whip out a new piece of wood and redo it but I would rather not mess with it in the end.

It would have messed up my symmetry in the front.

That is responsible for so many cabinet mistakes. Galaga itself isn't symmetric. They could've went with a middle joystick and buttons on either side, but they opted for a non-symmetric setup.

I meant the artwork symmetry.   I placed my joy and fire button where I did by just resting my arms on it and finding the spot that was most comfortable.  Then I marked, drilled, and tried it out.  It is in a good spot.. at least for me.. and my pop and I are pretty much the same size.

As for the artwork on the front... without the symmetry, it would drive me crazy :)

IMHO some of the best art is asymmetrical.  ;D

I can't argue with that...  I just like how it is on this one.  I can still mess with it and haven't ordered the CPO just yet.

The left one is backspace and the right one is escape.  In GameEx, the backspace button is helpful if you don't want to have to navigate to the menu and escape gets you out of your game like in MAME.

That was my first layout for the most part.  I wanted to keep the buttons off the side loopy things though so I moved them around.  I also thought about putting one player button on one side and the other opposite.  In the end, I think I like it the way I have it.

I appreciate all the suggestions but I am pretty happy with the CP and don't really want to change it.  It works for me and is a simple layout.

I agree. To hell with symmetry. It causes sleep depravation.

I got the CPO and the Sideart which I applied and it looks great!  I am just waiting on the Marquee and this thing will be done and ready for X-Mas.
