SATA II Solid State Drive - Thoughts?
DeLuSioNal29:
A friend of mine forwarded me this link. I thought it was pretty cool. Reminds me of the "Hard Cards" they had way back when.
These could be useful for a bartop setup due to their small size. Although it's under $300 (still pricey), eventually, like all things electronic, these prices will fall in the future.

I think Goz had a 32gb one for sale in BST thread, if you were looking for a more reasonable price. From what I have heard they load things really quick and have no seek time, but write times can get really high.

Wait.
Not too long (maybe this time next year), but the next generation SSDs will be significantly faster and likely more reliable.
i'm a software engineer working on some firmware for a company's line of SSD products, and the stuff we're playing with now is making the stuff that's been released look like a joke.

I'm wondering what happened to the shaker drive, with hundreds of heads.
Bluedeath:
you can buy a transcend SATA ssd (32 gb) for around 120 $ (it costs more or less 80€ here in italy)
