Youki,

Is AtomicStudio a stand-alone module (or can it be)?

For example, I have AFe .19 with one master list that is customized the way I want it with roms and game names modified.   At some point down the road, I will want to mess with multi-level directories to include different emulators as well as create categories in my Mame list.  AtomicStudio looks easier than the older multi-config wizard, Is it possible to DL this program for use with ver .19 or would I need to upgrade to ver .20 to use this?  Im concerned that if I upgrade to .20 I will loose saved metadata information and anything else I have already done.

Tek

Hi,

AtomicStudio is standalone , but most of features work only with the ATomic 0.20 engine.

What you can do in your case :

Install AtomicFE 0.20 (full install) in a different folder (DON'T OVERWRITE YOUR ATOMICFE 0.19 Install).

Then run AtomicStudio .

Create a new project.

Then use the "Import Config" button , and select your .CFG file from the 0.19 .

Now, you should be able to use your .CFG files  and use AtomicStudio.

If you used "relative" path , you could have to adjust some folder but not necessary.

Let me know if you have problem. I can help you to "migrate". But please open a thread of the Atomic Official support forum for that.

I have updated the install package on the website.

It corrects few little bugs.   There was a problem with mame template and few other little things.

I have also included a tutorial in Spanish.

I've fallen in love with this Front End. It's magnificent.

I have a simple question: It's possible to make AtomicFE look for roms in subfolders?
MaLa Front End has this option named "Search in subfolders" (under "Rom Path").

Thanks for this piece of software.

AtomicFe does not browser subfolder. But what do you need exactly?  You want one screen that list all rom that are under a given folder tree?  Or you want one screen by subfolder?

As workaround for now, what you could do , is to create with Atomic Studio one screen by subfolder , and then create a Screen that use the "multi emul gamelist" feature to group all the roms in one screen. and Just add this screen (and not the other) into the hierarchy.

I have this directory: "C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\"

Under "C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\" I have files (roms) and other directories (CD Games) like this:
C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\Game1 CD\
C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\Game2 CD\
C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\gamex rom.zip
C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\gamexyz rom.zip
C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\gamezzz rom.zip
etc...

Under "C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\Game1 CD\" I have:
Game1 CD.CUE
Track01.wav
Track02.ISO
Track02.wav
Track03.wav
etc...

Under "C:\emu\Mednafen\roms\Game2 CD\" I have:
Game2 CD.CUE
Track01.wav
Track02.ISO
Track02.wav
Track03.wav

I've set as rom extensions ZIP and CUE, so with subfolder option the front end can find all games (CD and normal Roms).

Here you can see the "search in subfolders" option in mala:

As workaround for now, what you could do , is to create with Atomic Studio one screen by subfolder , and then create a Screen that use the "multi emul gamelist" feature to group all the roms in one screen. and Just add this screen (and not the other) into the hierarchy.
But in this case you have to do all manually, game by game, right? :(

Humm..ok..  i see now.

The solution i gave you with multi emu game list could work but , you're right in your case it will be lot of work as if i understand well, in fact, you have one game by subfolder.

Do you use in general "automically generated game list" or you created your game list for your screens?

anyway, i going to see if i can implement this option quickly for you.

Ok, i did a modification in AtomicStudio to manage that.  But for now it will be only manual generated gamelist.
(so you will have to create a gamelist with all your roms (just one click)).

i still 2 or 3 enhancement/bug fix for other users to do , and i will update the patch. Hopefully you will have your modification next week.

AtomicFE 0.20 patch updated.

few bug fixes and enhancement.

@Haggar : now it manages subfolder for manually generated gamelist.
So you can attach a gamelist to your screen, and click ">>" button (with no filter) to transfert all your roms in the list.

Roms in subfolder will appear in AtomicFE by defaulf with the folder name (ex:  mygamefolder\game )  , you can change Display Name , using the "change display name" menu item on your screen in AtomicStudio.

I've tried the patch. Scan in subfolder works and the games are all now in the list with the "game dir\game" :)

But there's a problem: when I select "change display names" I cant's see these new games added (when I've hitted "refresh list" it has found "xx" new roms, but I can't see them).

humm.. strange, i'm going to check and fix.

Waiting i fix that.  you can do it manualy :

Go in your project folder :  <atomicfe>/Projects/<yourproject>

You should find a file called  <your screen name>.LIST.DICO

Open it with the notepad

and add rows corresponding to your games like that :

yoursubfolder1\yourgame1    "Game 1 display name"
yoursubfolder2\yourgame2    "Game 2 display name"
etc..

but i should fix that this week.  I had tested it worked for me , but may be i did a last minute change that broke that.

Wich type of "transparent" images I need? Can I use console images (.BMP) from maximus arcade?

Is also possible use fadings between screens? (when I enter/exit from a screen)

Yes, you can do exactly that if you want.  In Atomic it is done using "contextual trajectory".

If you can provide me all the image i can do something like that for you.

Not yet implemented in standard.  Should be possible by doing a plugin , but lot of work. I plan  to implement that in a future version , but i can not say when. :(

Hi,
I've made a screen with scan in subfolders, so with manually generated list. All works fine.

Now I want to add to this screen a list of games from an other screen, but when I hit "view/attach game list" it doesn't shows me "Game list type selction", but only the game list editor (so I can't choose the origin screen).

I've thinked also to attach the first screen (the one I've made with scan in subfolders) to the other screen, but it doesn't shows me the manual generated list I've done.

How can I do?
Thanks

Hi,

if you go directly on the game list editor it is surely because a Game List is already attached to your screen.

So select your screen ,  right click , and choose "remove gamelist" .

Then re select it, and choose "view/Attach Game List"  , you should be prompted to know if you want :
-create a game list
-attach game list from another screen
-import external game list

Let me know, if it solves your problem.

if you go directly on the game list editor it is surely because a Game List is already attached to your screen.

Yes, I have already a manual game list attached because I'm using the "look in subfolder" option (a useful feature you have implemented).

The problem is that I can't also attach this manual game list to other screens (as a workaround).

Hum... i'm not sure i understand what you want exactly.  Is it :

you currently 2 screens.
- one with a manual gamelist attached  (let call it screen 1)
- another one  with also a gamelist attached (let call it screen 2)

what you would like to do , is to mix the 2 screens in Screen 1 ?

Is it correct?   you are trying to do a Multi-Emulator game list?

If it is correct.  You must create a Third Screen  where you mix the 2 others. As described in the point 14 of the tutorial (14: Joined Game Lists )

Or may be i don't get your point.  ???

Yes you are right.
First of all sorry for my english.
Second thing, sorry because I was doing a wrong thing. Now I've done things following the tutorial.

I try to explain as better as I can the problem.

If I try to attach the screen that has the manual genrated game list (subfolder roms), I can only see the roms in the root directory and with the wrong extension.

Here I try to be more clear.

Here my "cfg":
C:\EMU\ROMS\rom1.pce
C:\EMU\ROMS\rom2.pce
C:\EMU\ROMS\rom3.pce
C:\EMU\ROMS\rom4.pce
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME1-CD\Game1.cue
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME1-CD\track.bin
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME2-CD\Game2.cue
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME2-CD\track.bin
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME3-CD\Game3.cue
C:\EMU\ROMS\GAME3-CD\track.bin

etc

I have to run the same emulator for standard pce roms (simple screen with only "PCE" extension in cfg) and to run cue+bin images in subfolders (another screen with ONLY "CUE" extension in cfg, with manual list for subdir CUEs and with auto external command option to automate "daemon tools" to load images and unload them at emu exit).

The 2 screens works perfectly.

So now I created a 3rd screen to mix the 2 screens. I have attached to it the first PCE simple screen (perfect).
But now when I try to attach the second screen that I've created (CUE+Manual list+Daemon), I see in the list only the PCE roms (as I writed before I have specified NO PCE extension, but only CUE extension in this screen).

Where I'm wrong?

hum.. i think i see.  It is possible that my Multi-emulator gamelist Dialog  (you are well on this dialog?) does not manage subfolder and/or multi-extension !  I will check that and correct if possible. (don't know when , but as soons as i can).
