Ref takes out South Carolina QB

Is this crap for real? A coworker sent this to all of us, and it screamed "FAKE!!!!" At me. I then saw another angle of it, but I still smelled BS. I can't find anything on ESPN or similar sites about it. Colin Cowherd spoke about it for a while, but that doesn't exactly prove anything.

I would think if this were real it would be a HUGE news story.

Can anyone comfirm this?

ChadTower:

Maybe it's not a news story because a ref bracing himself for impact with a player isn't exactly news.

There are additional angles on youtube. It seems like a blatant hit to me.

I looked at it (from a non-sporty set of eyes) and even called in a roomate to look at it. Neither of us could come to a conclusion.

It definetly DOES look like the ref is running toward the QB and clocking him. Hell, the QB even seems to adjust his course to get around the ref... BUT

Both my roomie (who is a 55 year old male) and myself couldnt help but wonder if the ref was trying to get out of the way of the mass of players and haden't noticed who had the ball at the time, and didnt see the QB in time; until he had to use a defensive move.

Stuff happens fast on the field, esp when there are so many people running around. Its not like the ref was allowed to know the play beforehand. That info is only for players on each team.

Anyways, just a view from someone who hates sports, and knows little about football (american). Fresh eyes can be useful.

Maybe he missed playing and had a flashback and thought he was in the game.  ;)

Put me in coach!
