Hopefully I will have time to make the suggested improvements soon.  I've been really busy lately.  However, once the snow falls around here I will have more time.

Related news:

I was glad to see a "how to" category added to the current mame snap project. :applaud:  However, only some of the snaps are of use for controls.dat.  And it's starting with only 130 games (including clones).  But it's a start, and I'm hoping it grows for verification help.

I'm not sure when you guys will see any changes.  I'm still pretty busy until middle of november.  I am going to do the really simple stuff first.  The stuff that requires a new database field and a simple addition to the forms.  This is stuff like adding a flag to indicate the game's controls were verified as accurate.

I will probably add colors but I might not make the form changes right away.

After that I plan on creating the interface to upload data from headkaze's program.  This will allow people to add clones and colors.  Those two will cause the most changes in the forms so I am putting those off incase I want to update the site to Silverlight - I have to found out if that is supported on that server.

I'll start a thread on the controls.dat forum to discuss the new features controls.dat should have.  It'll be easier to discuss it there than here.

I just tried joining up on the Controls.Dat forum, it sent me an e-mail and I clicked the link to activate my account where it prompted me for an activation code. I pasted the activation code in the e-mail and it was not accepted. Some bug in the forum software methinks.

Anyway arzoo brought it to my attention recently that colors.ini quite often uses different colors for different players when Controls.Dat uses mirrored controls. I don't know why I didn't realize this when I was writing the ControlsDat app. So I think I should probably remove that from the program then or come up with a way to have the different colors for different players without needing to repeat mirrored controls. It's a shame because I think it was a good idea to be able to do the colors at the same time.

For LEDBlinky's non-mame emulator data (which uses a schema similar to controls.xml), I just decided to duplicate the controls even when they are mirrored.

I don't think your forums like me SirPoonga. I tried logging in again and it says "Password security has recently been upgraded. Please enter your password again.". When I enter my password it says "Password incorrect". So I try to reset my password. Click on the link in my e-mail to reset it, enter a new password and I get "Invalid activation code". Can I suggest an upgrade to SMF 1.1.7?

You know this may be a bit off topic...but I just wanted to say people like you guys, SirPoonga, Headkaze, Arzoo,BBB from hyperspin, & many others... are freagin awesome....I just got into MAME and buliding my first cab but I am just amazed at so many resources out there by programmers such as yourselves which make the experience that much more awesome!

And the fact that you guys do this for FREE is such a statement unto yourselves! Easily many of your programms could be seen in a retail environment!

Just needed to say that! You guys are awesome!!!

I'm sorry guys, I haven't done anything.  1) I forgot the database password.  I am trying to get it.  Woogie responded to me but didn;t tell me what he is going to do.  Also I recently was let go from my job so I am concentrating on finding a new job.

Sorry to hear that. :(  As much as it bites, Real Life should come first (darn it ;)).

Good luck on finding the new job!  Hopefully it doesn't take too long.

SirWoogie is just not answering me.  He didn't even answer in the mods forum here.  Saint is alright if I move the project to this site.  However, I might be buying a website soon so I might put it there.  I have to find out if I have any backups.  Otherwise I might just start from scratch using Silverlight.

With the job market as crappy as it is I decided to try my hand at iphone dev.  I am thinking about making something simple that displays controls on the iphone.  A program would be on the arcade that sends the info over the network to the iphone.

The project is up.  However, the forums are having issues.  Once I get that resolved I will upgrade the project to the latest version of mame.  Sorry it has taken so long.  I still don't have a job and I have been concentrating on the iphone dev stuff.  I hope to have an app up on the app store within a month or two.
