| 'Pop' Cabinet Magnet for Coin Door? |
| (1/3) > >> |
| Necro:
Can't think of another name for it, but was wondering if anyone has ever used one of those cabinet magnets that click-in and pop-out when pressed for a coin door. Seems like if you don't need it actually locked, it would be a perfect way to have the door be easy access and still stay shut tight when you dont want it open. |

What's wrong with using something like this: http://www.happcontrols.com/security/30032500.htm :burgerking: |

I actually put one of the push-to-close, push-to-open magnets on the KBD door of my cab. Works pretty well. I don't have children, so theres not much worry about little curious fingers. But I find it easier to get to the KBD in a pinch if I find a game that isn't configured exactly right. -Ultrageek {EDIT} example link http://www.dlawlesshardware.com/masplotolac2.html |

I don't know how well that would work for a coin door. When closed, you want it solid. Any play and it makes a lot of noise. I like mine to lock tight, so I placed felt pads on the edges to remove the metal-on-metal sound and to get rid of any looseness. The magnet thing might work great for you, but it's nothing I'd try. To each his own, though... |

Ultrageek, that's exactly what I was talking about. Guess I'm going to need to try it out - the worry about the door jiggling is a very valid one...so I'd want to avoid that. The keyless 'lock'...don't like the look of it :). If I were to do this, I'd still have a lock in the hole, it would just be functionless and there for aesthetics only. Thanks for the input guys...appreciate it. Very surprised no one's tried this yet. |
