People who trained in and mastered Lethality were not going to sign up for such an
event even when it was mostly unregulated.    Its called Ethics.

 The money wasnt good either.

And then you also have the concept of the Value of Life.   A smart fighter knows
that a lot can happen in a fight.  One slip up,  and your Life could end very early.
Not many people would gamble their lives for a few bucks.   Life is Priceless...
and no amount of money can yet revive the deceased soul.

I can tell you one thing... Those fights are Boring as hell.   I simply cant stand to
watch two guys rolling around on the ground touching each other for minutes at a
time.

They NEED to limit ground time to 15 sec max,  or take it out completely.   No tap out victories.  If a person taps... they stand them back up and try again.   No Ground Pound crap (show dominant position, hit twice max, and they stand you back up)

wow i guess you never seen the ADCC ..........  ground game can be boring especially when they not doing anything, but when you see lots of reversals its entertaining

BITD, ground and pound was pretty boring. Why? Because most of the time 1 or both fighters had no clue what they were doing. Now, it can be quite advantageous to go down into the guard and let the other guy think he has an edge. I have seen more than a few chokes and bar submissions from the guard.

I have to admit that the ground game has made leaps and bounds in entertainment over the last few years as more fighters learn it.

Umm,  how is watching someone sitting on another person who is nearly
defenseless getting punched entertaining?!    It certainly takes Zero skill... and
is a cowardly way to win a battle.

But I said I like GOOD ground work. You're describing what anyone would call a boring match.

With the occasional Joyce Gracie 'how long will it take me to intentionally break this poor fellows arm' bouts thrown in for good measure.

Gracie was an ---uvula---, and I have enjoyed seeing him get his ass kicked the last few fights.

Has it gotten any better in the last 10 years?

It's completely different now. This coming Saturday night on Spike there's a free PPV (contradiction?) that will be worth checking out.
