vidmouse:
Build a pedastal on the front of the cab to stand on, that will negate the effect of the taller CP, so you
don't have to cut anything

The artwork that's destroyed on the left side is fairly benign... you could always try the old
"art class" method:
1)  scan the opposite side
2)  reverse the image on a PC
3)  print out the reversed image
4)  "grid out" the printed image
5) LIGHTLY grid out the damaged area on your cab
6)  replicate the artwork needed, grid-by-grid, erasing
the grid lines when done on your cab (or paint over them)

blueznl:
It's blasphemy, I know, but looking at the side I'd say you'd be able to cut a little from the bottom, two inches or so, without totally destroying the artwork?

abzman2000:
I second the vidmouse method, it's what I would do

IG-88:
Third'd. Do the pedestal and redo the artwork.

abzman2000:
Are there enormous scanners that could capture the good side in all it's splendor? if there exists such a thing then all you would have to do is print a mirror image of the good side on some material.

next train of thought: Is it possible to modify a scanner to be able to scan large flat objects in sections?  what I mean is that normal scanners have a glass plate recessed in a plastic bezel, could someone modify an old cheap flatbed scanner to have a perfectly flat face so you could scan large flat things in small sheet-of-paper sized sections.  Old parallel scanners seem plentiful and can be had for next to nothing (when I see them).  Next time I can get one I will try this.  This seems a great way to preserve arcade artwork.
