| What is this cabinet? |

Full Disclosure: I am a newbie and have been reading/researching for months. I picked up a cabinet that I was planning to MAME, but now I am trying to figure out what I have. Picked this up for $50 as part of another buy (NFL Blitz 99 for $150). I bought this as a working Silent Dragon. Now that I am disassembling, I am wonder what I have. It has an operational Williams coin door and what looks like a Defender power supply. Pictures below. Any thoughts on what this was or should be before I start converting to a multicab? |

I have determined that underneath the paint is the Defender side art. This cabinet is solidly constructed but made of 3/4' plywood. If this were an original Defender cabinet, would it have been made of MDF? I am still trying to determine if I have something original worth restoring or if this was a kit that someone created and at one point housed Defender. Thanks! |

Its a real Defender. Even as a Defender fan, I'd say its only worth converting back if you're really into Defender. You're going to need a lot of parts, and you could probably find a decent original machine for the cost of the conversion which would make the de-conversion more of a labor of love than an investment. Personally, I'd just enjoy it as a JAMMA cab. Great Multi-Williams candidate. |

My buddy Jason Inman used to sell Defender stencils, if you would like to restore it and stencil it I could ask him if he still has those. Defender cabinets are lovely :) Cheers, Craig |
