please help with my mame machine - i have run-time error '9'

i have a mame system that has pc based roms called the  time machine and it has been working fine for the last 5 years with minor glitches but now i cant even get it to work period

during start up it has a message right before it goes to the menu screen

it gives this message

 

oThe dragon king [X] (i assume this is one of the games that is on the system)

 

run-time error '9':

 

subscript out of range

 

      [OK]

 

then it goes to another screen once you click on [OK]

 

this screen says active desktop recovery

 

and has somewhere to click that says

 

[restore my active desktop]

 

when this is clicked on it goes to the spinning disc like it is going to do something but never goes to the menu screen or any other one just keeps spinning

 

please help me

Anyways, I wont reply to your email, but I will here.

Active desktop only fails if there has been a major failure with explorer (crash of explorer or a program that causes major problems)

Sounds like MAME or whatever ROMs you are using are corrupted and are causing major problems. Or even more likely you have an OS issue (hence the loss of active desktop).


Either that, or you are trying to get people to email you to send spam....

Now that I think about it:

Saint, will you add to the terms of use to not allow new posters to put their email addresses as a "reply to" part of their message. This really does look like spam bait to me.
