Tekken 2 Back to Mortal Kombat *DONE*
« on: September 27, 2008, 03:33:38 pm »
Picked up this Tekken 2 machine for a couple hundred bucks. Turns out is is a Mortal Kombat. Hiding under the hideous Tekken coverings on the side was the original MK sideart in PRISTINE condition. Some of it came off during the removal of the covering, but I was able to paint/touch up most of it. Here are some progress pics so far. LOTS of work will need to go into this baby to bring it back to it's former glory....

my mame cab was also a mortal kombat converted to tekken 2.  mine had black paint over the artwork. i tried to save it but failed. the artwork wasnt in good condition and the goof off damaged some of the art.

Nice find and nice fix on the artwork.

I'm thinking this should be moved to "Restorations"?

Nice work!

While I'm more of a Tekken player than a MK player,
I cannot argue that the Tekken "artwork" you stripped
off was really ugly... again, nice work

Ok, so I already have an MK1, but since I found a much better quality cab, I am putting all the MK1 stuff in the new cab and turning the old MK1 cab into UMK3.

The original volume pot/test menu switch bracket was missing on this cab, so I had to find out what wires went to what item and come up with my own solution. The volume pot you see in the pic, I had to steal from a working NBA JAM pcb I have.....

Next comes the REAL fun. Cleaning up dusty monitors and swapping out a chassis...Stay tuned...

Sounds like an interesting restore, but could you add a couple pics of the machine?

Sure. Give me some time. I can't seem to find my camera.

Oic. Well, let me know.

But seriously, great documentation. I have a folder of about that many pictures of each of my machines on my computer.

I knew it was a lot of pics when I first started posting them, but I thought it would be good to show step by step. Next time, I'll just post a link to the album I am linking.

doesnt bother me. Ive got cable internet. they were all there pretty close to instantly. You might want a dial up warning in the title.

Awesome restoration man! Looks like you have the complete collection now! Btw do you still have those bios pictures with the characters moves list laying around on your PC? Those are really cool I Was wondering if you still have them could you send them to me via PM or email? thanks!

looks amazing, Im super jealous.

Hunk_4th, did you really need to quote all his pictures?
If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

I'm sorry but I didn't quote all of his images just the one's showing the bio screen print outs and them on his UMK3 machine.
