| cocktail cab plans? |
| (1/1) |
| TheShanMan:
I am in the super early stages of planning a from-scratch cocktail cab with mame. I definitely want a cocktail cab to ultimately be part of my collection, and I think I'd rather go with mame than a dedicated cab (for dedicated cabs I'll stick with uprights). I have never built any cab from scratch, so this would be my first. Wondering if there are any plans available for cocktail cabs? I didn't really come across much beyond pictures by searching the project announcement forum. I'm pretty confident in my ability to build one, and I would almost certainly deviate from any plans I use as a starting point, but I do want to make sure I think of everything I need to consider when coming up with the design. My company has a whole row of old hardware such as crt monitors that it's trying to get hauled off by some recycling company, so I bet if I know what I want in terms of a monitor particularly, I could get it for nothing if I act fast. Any suggestions on what is the largest monitor I should consider for a standard size cocktail cab? Also wondering what is the "standard" approach with the computer itself in a cab of such limited space. Laptop? Caseless desktop? I'm sure I could figure all this stuff out, but I'm also sure I'm not breaking new ground here, so of course I want to learn from others who have gone before me. |

EDIT: Durrrrrrr.....idiot Ginsu. Posted a link to bartops, not cocktails. |

Here are some plans and assembly instructions for a Pac-Man cocktail table. http://s207051075.onlinehome.us/ripplin/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/pacct-plans.pdf http://s207051075.onlinehome.us/ripplin/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/pacct-instructions.pdf |

That's awesome, TAG. Pac-man cocktail cabs are definitely the style I'm looking to go with, and those pdf's seem to provide much more detail than I could have hoped for. I'll have to try to figure out what monitor size it would use because it doesn't seem to specify the monitor size (though I assume it is designed for a standard pac-man cocktail monitor). It also doesn't seem to get into the details of what to do computer-wise. Still interested in other plans, and answers to my questions (monitor size and computer). Thanks guys! |
