Donkey Kong 2 - D2K Project

I have a couple of questions about your awesome paint job:

1.  Is there any particular reason why you went with oil-based paint?
2.  How did you apply the paint?  Foam roller?
3.  Was 2 coats all it took?
4.  Did you do any sanding in between coats of paint or primer?
5.  Did you tape the lines where the black meets the blue?  My cab does not come apart so I will be taping and your lines are very clean.
6.  Did you have any "orange peel" after drying - how smooth is the side art?

I put the first two coats of primer on my cab last night and it isn't as smooth as I'd like it to be.  I mean, it's OK but not *perfect* and I had to use a brush to get in the corners.  Tonight I want to sand to 400 grit and then apply 2 coats of the black paint and tomorrow I want to apply the blue paint.  I'm just looking for some pointers - Thanks!!!

I just received tracking information yesterday on a shipment from TOG.  It is l.isted as 5lbs, so I'm hoping it is the bezel, artwork, serial plate (and a few other items I ordered from Rich).  I'll update the thread again once I get the package.

I'm stoked because this way I can at least put another piece of the project to rest. ;)

Just having a look around at the other machines in the background.... Damn! where do you live? 579 Endicott Street North by any chance?  ;D

I wanted to update the thread - my bezel was in the aforementioned package, and it looks amazing.

All I've yet to receive now is the side art and the serial number plate.  Has anyone in the thread (knowing the OP has sideart) received either?

rockin_rick:
The label on my bezel says Aug 18 which I'm guessing is the ship date so I've had it about three weeks now, but am still waiting on the side art and serial plate.
