Hrm... for just that stuff it would probably be far easier to set up an open source https based repository.

Ok lets forget I am a nerd.
You are talking to a Kentucky red neck.
What the heck did you just say?   :dizzy:

A website that has logins and uses secure HTTP.  I'm sure there are some open source versions out there you could use.  Wouldn't require relying on ancient hardware like a BBS would.

But, ancient hardware adds the COOL factor.  I don't think any of my PC's even have modems anymore.

COOL at first... and not so cool when it can't handle the load and you end up spending more time fixing the thing than you do using it.

I still tend to drop a modem in machines I build but I can't remember the last time I used one to be honest.

Why can you not just use Telnet?   ::)

I say if you wanna do it...then do it! Sure a bbs would not be the way I would go, however, more power to ya! Just remember that if it's not done correctly, you will be spending more time fixing it then playing with it! ChadTower had a good idea. Checkout sourceforge.net for some solutions.
